@skysat
Thanks for your honest feedback.
I understand how difficult it is to express your opinion and wonder about upsetting people by doing this.
Controlling the appearance of third party apps is a serious challenge.
There are no apps designed for this platform and so we try to make it work.
We respect your feedback and we will discuss this.
One thing to remember,
This is aimed at people who are using Google apps on their devices and I do not notice any issues with watch faces.
This is why it is called International firmware.
The stock firmware was designed to not use Google apps as a priority and most settings disabled.
However, this causes security issues because the OS is Android and relies on integrity.
For example, what will happen if NFC became available?
If it did not use official Google apps - it would not work. System integrity and security most important.
We were hoping that the âofficialâ way to construct the firmware would be acceptable because the solution provider wants to introduce NFC.
But if this is not acceptable then there is no point in getting NFC.
You just canât have both.
Either scrap custom apps and use full SE Linux together with Google apps - or forget NFC.
@pablo11@SmartWatch_Ticks can we get to see a video about this FAW firmware v1.0 and howâs the experience on OP2?! I did see one from Mr.Ticks for Prime2. This will give a good idea of howz the overall user experience before deciding/ venturing into intnl firmware. Thanks!.
It works exactly the same way as the video of the Prime 2 that Mr Ticks made.
The base firmware is exactly the same.
There is no dual operating mode on the international opt 2 firmware.
So it is the same as the Prime 2.
Cheers
Hello! Im receiving an Optimus 2 any day now. From what I understand I need to first fully charge it. Then connect to wifi and do the OTA update on original firmware. After that a full factory reset and reboot. What is the next step to get the international FAW firmware? Thanks guys
It is the point is to have a minimalistic and still completely functional android device, because forcing a half-baked smartwatch user interface on a android system causes lots of compatibility problems and other various issues.
sorry for my hasty criticism. It was not meant in a bad way. I forgot that this firmware is still in beta. I know that it is very difficult to adapt apps that are intended for a mobile phone to a small clock display. But there are also positive things to report. Since RC2 I have no more crashes and restarts. Regards skysat
Since the cleaner is still available in the FAW firmware, I can recommend another cleaner tool. Itâs called snap cleaner. Also works in a round version. Easy to handle. Itâs free in the Google AppStore.
Hey,
No problem @skysat
We are looking for any feedback.
I thought I was making it clear that negative or positive feedback is important.
In fact, we are surprised by how little feedback we have been given and how many people just donât seem to be interested in the project
Maybe we donât advertise the project enough? Iâm not sure.
Itâs just surprising that after all these years of people asking for this - it seems that either they are no longer interested or worried about trying it.
Anyway, I was fine with your feedback and at least you have something to say
The reason why the âcleanerâ was removed is because it actually did nothing.
In Android 10 and above, by far the most effective method is to long press the power button and use the recent tasks app to close off old processesâŚ
This has been explained but now the threads are a little bit mixed up - some information is scatteredâŚ
Thanks for your recommendation but I still think that any real benefit is achieved through the recent tasks optionâŚ
However, the good thing is that you can install the app of your choice to achieve your goal
Because of the little feedback. I donât think many people have an Optimus 2. The watch is still too new in Europe and Amazon DE is not yet offering it via direct shipping. Vacation is also time. At the end of the week Iâm gone for 4 weeks too.
It is a problem with promotion and we will get the correct information published.
It is available for direct shipping.
For example, we ordered a replacement in Germany last week and it arrived the next day.
So it is ok but information about it is not correctly distributed.
We will aim to correct this and give people another chance to purchase with a $20 discount if they are interested.
But overall, I think the interest in an international firmware for the Android 10 devices is not quite as high as we thought.
Iâm reporting my feedback. My Prime2 with international firmware works much better than when it had stock firmware, everything is simpler and clearer. All the applications I use work well and with Google I have no problem. Now the battery even with fairly intense use allows me to use it all day (active bluetooth connected to the smartphone, sim inserted and 4g data connection active). In fact, I would never dream of going back. From a âsmartâ point of view, Prime2 is the best for me. Thank you very much for this firmware
That is unfortunately a problem with the tight resolution of the 1.6 inch display (400x400), the 80 more pixels on the Prime 2 does make a significant difference in this regard.
It was tried to align the display content for both displays by adjusting the density, so the 1.6 inch display should roughly show the same visible content as the 2.1 inch display.
I try to find a solution for the blurry application icons, the problem is that the custom icons for the Optimus 2 only have a 100x100 resolution and if that gets upscaled due to the reduced density it unfortunately results in a blurry image.
So, a reasonable tradeoff would be to reduce the icon size to itâs native resolution:
Can somebody please upload a video of overall experience on OP2 with the new FAW firmware? Eager to know how it all turns out to be. Also, can somebody please enlist Goodâs n Badâs of this change (as per you)?
