I have just got my Thor 4, following on from getting a Thor S. Unfortunately during my setup I managed to enable smartlock which requires a pin etc. I added a pin and then found that when it is asked for the Pin the keyboard does not appear so I am stuck. I tried to do a Hard Reset - hold two keys until the menu comes up in Chinese. From Google I found I needed to select eMMC which I did however on the next screen it keeps saying that eMMC is busy try again which I have done numerous times but to no avail. I have a bad feeling that I just wrecked it. Can anyone help - I did think of getting a corded keyboard,to see if I could connect using the cable but not sure it that will work

when you are asked for a pin? did you touch the place you need to enter the code? i doubt that it be that hard to enter a pin code. the only other option is to flash the watch.

Yes tried tapping on the pin entry best I get is a blue dot under the cursor, how do I flash the watch?

I am about to link the firmware.

Give me an hour or so.

I’ll include instructions and videos.

Thank-you so much, much appreciated

if you are not sure about flashing and need help ask freely:)

Thanks will do

Where do I find
usb mtp (you’ll find what you need on the forum). I did a search but could not locate, I downloaded the All Devices Core Tools and it mentions USB VCOM Drivers but not sure if it relates to USB MTP

If you install the drivers included in the package you will be fine.
MTP drivers are in there but your OS will have built in Mtp drivers as well.
You will be fine.

Thanks Pablo, you are a saint, got my watch back, thank you so much

Our pleasure :+1:

Hi gang, sorry I haven’t been able to keep up with you here, just totally overloaded. Got something to report for discussion and help, and I hope this is the right place. If not, feel free to move this over to the Thor 4 Firmware thread. I did the OTA on the Thor 4 just now, followed by a factory restore, and I’ve lost connection to the camera. Camera app says check and see if something else is using it. Redid the factory restore and went straight to the camera app, same results. Tried installing 3rd party camera app “Open Camera” and it loads but the screen is black – no connection to an image, but it didn’t crash or quit. Camera button doesn’t work though. So it appears a new problem has been introduced with the latest firmware. Have any of you with a Thor 4 updated and are you having this issue? Ideas? Help? Thanks!

Updated Build Number KY_THOR4_20180612

EDIT - this appears to be an isolated issue so please don’t worry about accepting this OTA.
If you do have any problems please let us know.

Thanks.

No problem.
Fix will be available for the camera soon - if you all have the same problem with the OTA or latest firmware update please let me know.
Cheers

HI Mr Ticks. Just curious as to why you did a factory reset after OTA on Thor 4. I just took the update and no problem with camera without factory reset. Now the big question?: do i do a factory reset after taking OTA. NO.  NOT in this case or you will lose your camera. Solution: Find old firmware (most likely from pablo) flash take ota and do not factory reset or wait for firmware fix.

I was advised that a restore was in order this time because of a bug fix involving MAC addresses which needed to be cleared for the fix to take effect. So depending on OTA, you either get a fix or a break based on what you do afterwards.

Hello I assumed you bought this from Banggoods, Can I ask how long it took for delivery, Its just that I ordered mine 3 weeks now and is getting inpatient, Normally goods from China takes about 2 weeks max to get to me unless they get lost/stolen in the post

Sorry Mr Ticks for the confusion. I talked to pablo and took the factory reset after OTA and the camera works fine. It may be down to the frying thing that happened to your watch:)

I thought at first that it was an issue and so did the firmware team. However, after a lot of testing today they got back to me and said that they could not replicate the problem. I guess the camera hardware is either faulty or is a victim of the overheating issue you had previously.

It is worth trying a “Firmware Ugrade” flash with SP Tools and if that doesn’t work - I can’t think of anything else except hardware failure…

Sorry mate.

PS, the advice I gave you to factory reset is correct. It is needed for all the bug fixes to function correctly.

Also one more factory reset might make the camera work. Worth a try.

Yep, at this point it won’t hurt to try that.
The reason I say try the firmware upgrade option is because the watch gets “cleaned” before it gets flashed by the flash tool.

Wow, sad to hear, and really strange the camera worked right before the OTA and didn’t afterwards, No intense heating in-between, but it sounds like it must be a hardware problem. Well, there goes followup videos on this watch, I guess. Being that it’s weekend here all this flashing will need to wait until next week. Besides, I’m a bit pissed now and want to keep my distance from this Thor 4 which has only given me problems from the very beginning. Really glad to hear it’s not a problem for anyone else though. Seems odd that the camera would stop working from an unrelated firmware update anyway. I’ll report back a after a cool off period. Not for the watch, but for me.
