Ok, thanks. So why I need to write IMEI? IMEI is ok and shown correctly (=cellular working), when booted “normally”, but hidden when booted from recovery and Magisk enabled. I’m really sorry I don’t understand these things at a sufficient level…
Then just don’t touch it if it didn’t effect you really is just a mistake not actually empty
Or better make use of it install some GSI just any will work from android 9 to 14 ,12 is the best bet,arm64 bvn/bvs is the type you need
IMEI is not “empty”, just not shown in Magisk recovery mode. I haven’t touch anything but recovery partition so far. Thank you very much for your help. As i said before i can live with this (root) functionality very well ![]()
I don’t know but magisk can be flashed normally on w527 no need to use recovery mode I don’t know what happened to you maybe you have 2026 firmware and blocked by avb? Otherwise just patch the boot normally
Magisk recovery mode is working “as expected” and that is ok for me
.
And yes, 2026 firmware and blocked by avb (but still can live) ![]()
there is some way to disable avb but you have to use close source version of spd dump and so it is not useable on linux so i cant test and dont know how to do it
but tbh im good just need custom rom root is just good to have on watch and the system and vendor is not checked by avb so they can be modified directly
using my CD20max (ESEA) from Shenzhen Vision for about a week, some observations:
-
to use my google calendar i needed to download the calendar database app from apkpure
-
the camera is 2mp, the best i’ve seen on these unisoc watches
-
compared to my CD20 the GPS finds a lock much quicker, it holds the lock much better, and it reports the route more accurately, but still rubbish compared to an mtk watch
-
my CD20 has FDD-LTE band 20, but the CD20max doesn’t, despite the pamphlet which came with the watch saying it does !
and while there are other LTE bands on the watch, and used in europe, (UK in my case), it seems band 20 is the most crucial and widely used, which might account for the difficulties being reported by other users, i live in an area of poor reception, so this is a deal breaker for me
i’d be interested to know if anybody with a chinese version has band 20 for LTE ?
thanks for that, i suspected as much, the unisoc website is a bit cagey about the supported bands, just referring to ‘full netcom’ (which i think equals china unicom), which of course does not use band 20 like europe does, so i’d have to conclude these W527 watches are crippled in europe, unless you spend virtually all your time in areas of good coverage of course !
the W377E is fine, which makes you wonder why they dropped band 20 in the markedly better chip !
i have w527 global NV, i will update if there are more band available.
i have w527 nv for 2,3,4,5,7,12,25,28
no 20 unfortunately in both NV i have
What is the code to bring up this menu?
It’s AI LIFE’s Developer helper app: AI LIFE / DW smartwatch developer helper · GitLab
Telephony | BandSelect
you can also use tasker, it’s simply selecting the ‘engineering mode’ app from the run list
Waiting for you before i decided which would be my next device
s100 no doubt
the system will be named OnyxUI
already can be used, still have some bug, if you want to join alpha test contact me somewhere else @AILIFE4798
I got mine from zonealpha product listing was called cd-20-s20-android-smartwatch-5g-sim-amoled-display-rotating-camera-fingerprint-lock-face-lock .. ( goal was to get the latest chip .. and gemini said it was uniSOC W527 so went with it.. ( not confirmed cpu though..)
arrived in 2 days from mumbai..
first time ordering from there.. my build number was XNM_377E_EWD15CCA_V36_BDZ_S50D_H0_GB_FL_ZX_NOAPP_44_256X32B_EUR_410X502_V01_20260123_1527 clicking on it doesnt enable developer optiosn though.. looking into rooting it and all ..
perhaps install a cleaner android build.. than the chinese one .. anyway will post more info if anyones interested and if im able to get into the adb or smtin
I’m sorry but that’s not a W527 device. You can tell the SoC in the build number, it’s “W377E” so it’s Android 8.1
There’s also no way to install a cleaner android build. W377E is known for being too unstable when using other than stock.
The device is called CD20MAX, not CD20 or S20
I’ve asked 2 sellers on tabao and both say LTE band 20 works, for CD12Max, CD20Max and CD55Max, so they don’t really know or aren’t telling the full truth?
both sellers gave these bands:
GSM: B2 / B3 / B5 / B8
WCDMA: B1 / B2 / B4 / B5 / B8
LTE: B1 / B2 / B3 / B4 / B5 / B7 / B8 / B12 / B17 / B20 / B38 / B39 / B40 / B41
it’s possible to install the Google Playstore on these Chinese versions?
I’d like to use Whatsapp and Messenger (Meta)… those can be installed with apk packages?
How can I ask them to proof it? I also need B20…
