Watchface Designer

Ok I’ll try that

mpfm, good luck. I got there after much testing, then my testers lost interest... :\ I'm sorry but when I left rasc I deleted all the posts: If I had a kw88 it should have been a 1 hour job, having to rely on someone else to do the tests and then report what happens was a real failure

I think it's done. The initial theory seems to be correct for the Weekday, Month and Power rotations. Hours, minutes, seconds and Hours_24 works as on Finow. The exception (because KW88 has to have exceptions

) is the Weekday, where Sunday seems to be at 12 o’clock, whereas on Finow, that position is occupied by Monday. Here is a watchfile test that seems to run correctly on KW88. Everything on this test watchface works, but the hour24 was not fully tested. Also, the weekday works, but the slightly rotated hand was not tested (but I don’t see why it shouldn’t work).

Top left complication is the hour, minute, second. Top right complication is the month and the weekday. Bottom left complication is hour in 24h format, and bottom right is battery level/power.

This clockskin was generated directly by WatchFace Designer (the developing version, of course).

Here is the result of your test skin, mpmf. (the picture should explain itself).

Thanks for the test, but have you tried it with the firmware launcher or with Eric’s launcher. It seems that you have tested with Eric’s launcher because KW88 firmware does not support the 24 hour rotation (and you have it displaying correctly). The result you posted is the one I would expect to get on a X5/LEM5 or with Eric’s launcher…

Hello, yes that is exactly what I mean. I make my own vxp apps (c code...), and I need the watchface scaled to 240x240 resolution. I will try to use the clockskin files and process the images/xml via some code/script further to be useful in the app (rgb565 colors, blending handles to background color, generate coordinates suitable for my app etc). Currently I do that postprocessing by hand in GIMP. The goal is to autogenerate the app's code, based on the clockskin files, but we will see how far I can take it. I looked at CSM which is opened source but that sw is written in two languages I'm not really familiar with, italian and visual basic.

Ok, I'll implement that. Expect to see an "Export tweaked clockskin" menu option on the next version. Use that export instead of the regular "export as clockskin".

Thank's a lot! Really appriciate your efforts. Regards Fingalo

For previous test I use default luancher and this time I've installed Universal Luancher 2.32.The result still same as previous test as shown.

Even I’ve flashed with latest firmware,KW88_CS1_B_HM005_20170728, It’s still same result (both default launcher and universal launcher).

Marco - would be it difficult to add an option for full screen movements preview? It would be cool to show it on PC screen as something like screen saver…

Ok, that’s strange. Maybe last firmware fixed things? Can you try the standard (non-adapted for KW88) version? I attach it here. Thanks.

It would be easy to put it full-screen, but right now it isn’t optimized for such function (it would probably be kind of sluggish). While not high on the priority list, I’ll see what I can do about it.

Marco -why does the dot of the speedometer do not doese color?

It works perfect right now with latest firmware and universal launcher.

Great tool, keep up the good work.

PS. Donation is on it’s way.

Hi, I would like to know if he has seen the video to bend me where I am wrong

It works perfect right now with latest firmware and universal launcher. the focus here is trying to make it work without it, using the default clock engine. mpmf, the question is still same: is it worthwhile? isn't it better to simply use eric's launcher?

Does anyone know how to show only the AM or PM from the time?

It looks ok in Watchface Designer but doesn’t show on the watch after installing.
The time also seems wrong and always shows the 24 hour format (14:30 for half past 2) and not 2:30 PM.

To be clear;
I want to show 14:30 as 02:30 (or 2:30) on one position and PM on another position.

Nice catch. Next release (very soon, probably today) will have it corrected. Thanks.

Yes, it’s better to just use eric’s launcher. But some may prefer to use the standard launcher, for some strange reason

I do agree. on a kw88 you should use eric's launcher. the default clock engine is simply too buggy to be used. on x5 the default engine is just ok, so you can choose between it and eric's launcher, depending on what you want from a skin. for a simple one with not many complication the default engine is enough, and if you want to use .watch files you need to switch to eric's one.

You can use a DigitalClock layer with no text on the digits 0 to 9 and on the separator. Note, however, that there’s a bug on version 0.7.2 with the placement of the AM/PM symbols, so it will be on different position on watch. The next release (hopefully today) will have it fixed. Also, the format of the time shown (24h vs 12h) depends on the watch settings, not on the watchface. At least on Finow X5 Air, the engine uses the date and time settings to define if it should present 21h or 09h. WatchFace Designer does not know the settings on the watch so it shows 12h format when AM/PM symbols are present, and 24h format when they are not present.

So, having this in consideration, and remembering that the format depends on your watch settings and not on the watch face, retry your design with WFD v0.8.0

WatchFace Designer v0.8.0 released

While this version does not add many features, it adds enough to warrant a new 0.x version

Also, thanks to the donations I’ve received, I finally have a Finow X5 Air that I can test with. I found some bugs immediately . The 12h AM/PM symbol positioning was one of them (and the blinking separator was another). I’ve corrected it on this version.

Here’s what’s new:

  • Fixed standard clockskin export problem when having counter-clockwise rotational layers.
  • Fixed DigitalClockLayer with AM/PM rendering positions
  • Added tweaks for some rotation layers on buggy firmwares
  • Added PatternLayer to replace HatchedLayer and ParallelLinesLayer. PatternLayer supports both of these patterns, and some more, such as checkered, hexagons, etc.
  • Added Texture support for paint styles (both fill and stroke)
  • Added Bump map support for Emboss Effect. It uses the source image brightness to set the pixel’s height, so it can have bumps seemingly unrelated to the visible image.
  • Added BorderEffect that adds a border to the layer. A border, while similar in concept, is different of a stroke and can be applied to any layer (while strokes can only be used on some layers)
