Vwar Nebula X Android 11 Smartwatch

Every watch actually switch to 3g when you place a call, no LTE volte…

Shame - I was optimistic because of the settings appearing for VoLTE and 4G calling.

I degoogle everything, so idk if that would even be an issue for me. I plan on removing everything google from mine when it comes in. Everything I use I download from github, f-droid, or the aurora store

Yes there is the setting on our watchs for Volte and 4G calling but at the moment that’s dont work, we can just wait the result when 3g dissapear…

Hi all.

As I said before - the only sure way to test VoLTE is working, is to use the MTK engineering tool to restrict Cellular connectivity to LTE only.
Until I receive mine (which is on the way) I believe @Dr_Andy_Vishnu has had some success with this?
Remember to disable Wi-Fi - completely.
Then test voice calls.
That’s it .!!
If you can’t restrict the cellular bands or Wi-Fi, it’s ok - it just means no reliable statistics for service testing.

Cheers

Hi all,

Have received my unit and can confirm VoLTE is working in Australia on Telstra. Just popped my SIM in and started making calls; no set up or config. Call quality through both loudspeaker and paired bluetooth buds was excellent.

Sorry for bursting your bubble, but this does not mean anything yet.
I just received my sample today and it reports the same thing.
I am in Australia on Telstra also.

The only way to test it is to install the MTK engineering mode tool,
Enable developer options (which is simple by the way, I have just done it in the usual way)
Open the tool and turn off all options for cellular, apart from LTE.
Turn of WiFi
Have a look at the engineering tool and check LTE is up and running.
Make some calls.

I have the firmware for this now as well.
I will be pulling it apart (software) and running all tests.
I need to pull the Volte access files so we can use them on all the Android 10 MTK watches.

Bottom line - don’t trust the icon in the status bar which shows LTE connection.
It’s very easy to make this icon permanently on for cellular connections even if it is just 3G.
That’s why these tests are so important :+1:

Will be interested to hear the results of your testing to confirm VoLTE. As for me, on to the water-dunk test next. Will report results

You must be mad to dunk this watch in water :rofl::rofl:. It wont survive 30 mins

Not even 30 seconds, in my opinion. :joy:

Yep, the Sim and the USB connection covers will let water in quite quickly I think.
As I always say, full Android Watches - not waterproof in a price range less than $400 USD.
Even then, I would be suspicious :joy:

Just throw it in the bin now…
Because that’s what you will be doing after your water proof test.

In a sick sort of way i am looking forward to this test :rofl:

Maybe you should record it on video with a stopwatch running. A display with hundredths of a second will be needed. :joy:

Hello Everyone,

Has anyone been able to successfully use device pairing with Google Messages? (Watch as the parent) I’d like to use the watch with my primary SIM, and use any given phone as an extension device. With the lack of Google certification, I’m not confidant it will work. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the insight.

All google apps working 100% with google :+1:

OK, water tests done!

DISCLAIMER: THESE ARE MY OWN TESTS, DONE WITH MY OWN DEVICE, AT MY OWN RISK. YOUR RESULTS MAY BE DIFFERENT! THIS IS NOT ANY OFFICIAL CLAIM OF WATER-PROOFNESS. YOUR RESULTS MAY DIFFER!!! TREAT YOUR OWN DEVICE WITH CARE!!!

With that disclaimer over, the results have completely surprised me:

First test: 10 minutes in glass of water with timer and youtube video playing on PiP. Video here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLaTnat8nvI

Second test: Swimming for 45 minutes in salt-water pool.

Third test: Showered for 10 minutes, very hot water.

Watch is functioning perfectly after these tests. You can see in the video when I first pull the watch out after 10 minutes I just had to dab the watch dry with a towel (done off camera) so that the touch screen would register my touch again. I assume this is because a layer of water was confusing the digitiser, which is behaviour I have found to be consistent with other devices.

SIM card: completely dry. Charging port: completely dry and functional.

Weight before tests: 45.1 grams. Weight after tests: 45.1 grams.

I am a bit mad, yes.

Test done… enjoy.

TO REITERATE: don’t attempt this yourself if you want to keep your watch functioning, and don’t blame me if you brick your device. This is just done as a personal test because I’m a bit crazy.

I will continue to wear it in the pool and shower over the coming weeks and report back again.
