This was the last update I’m aware of.
Oh, thanks. I somehow missed that date. I’m hanging in there.
You are correct, no number sync app with ATT has to be already installed. My work around, sort of, is to get a separate SIM card for my watch and then call forward from my phone to my watch number. It’s not perfect but it’s the best I could do to leave the phone at home…doesn’t work with text messages though.

For this, you have to install a sms forwarder from the Play store. For me, I use Phone leash.
Thanks abel, phoneleash looks promising I am going to try it. If you don’t mind I know I will have questions. My initial question is because it’s a smart watch to which I’m forwarding sms messages, how do I reply to texts with my smartwatch w/o a texting, or email app installed on my watch?
Exact. Be careful about that!
With any sms forwarder app (some are free, but not reliable at all) you will have your sms transfered from your smartphone to the watch.
BUT: You can’t reply directly from your watch to the sender. You have two steps: sender ----> smartphone ----->watch.
If you reply from the watch, you will reply to the smartphone, to yourself, in fact. Even you see the name of the sender. You see it, but that’s all. The sms don’t come from him.
So, when you know who, go to your contacts and reply. A little bit ennoying, but at least yu don’t miss anything.
For email, its the same as your smartphone. Just install an mail app and use it. No forwarding.
Thanks again my friend.

Is there some reason you cannot use the T-Mobile Digits or AT&T Number Sync services. Voice calls, text messages imap email all are much easier.
One way is to use the Watch Droid app, version 9.0. With watch droid I receive all my texts on my phone and watch simultaneously. I can answer the text’s by voice, quick answers you install in the app or with the keyboard when selected.
I haven’t used the later versions of this app but starting with version 9.1 all or most of the phone/txt options were effected by Google privacy requirements.
The phone options allow you to initiate calls on you phone from the watch but not call from your watch.
Yes, surely.
But it’s a pity having a full android smartwatch and a sim card inside, to always be linked and chained with a smartphone. A classic connected watch is enough.
Just my opinion and I understand yours.
I’ve lost track of who is responding to whom; but with my setup as described previously, my wrist phone is not linked to my tablet phone. They operate totally independently.
You really should look at Watchdroid as @Jonathan_Bickel said.
It’s a great app and the developer has his own section here on the forum.
If you decide to use watchdroid here it is -
Thank you for the links…So I have considered watch droid as I understand it the assistant goes on my smartwatch and the other on my phone? My question is…does watch droid affect “Erics” launcher functions in any way? If not it may be that I should try this as well.
Thank You I will investigate that suggestion.
I have ATT and I’m not able to get a sync code for an android watch…which I understand is required. Do you have a sync coded android smartwatch? If so please explain your process.
No . I run them together just fine
Dax1,
In my case, I used to use AT&T but moved to T-Mobile some years ago as I felt they were more open and progressive. For some time I had wanted a smart phone that I could wear on my wrist where its convenient to use and view. This want was born out of not wanting to carry something around, dropping it, breaking it, losing it, and so forth. I never thought of the device as a watch because it is much more than that. I wanted more of a personal digital assistant on my wrist.
To shorten this up, T-Mobile started work on the Digits program, I signed up to be a beta tester. Digits allows 2 modes, one number - many devices OR many numbers - one device. I don’t know much detail, except I feel digits is different from SYNC in that you only need a DIGITS SIM for additional cell devices, no app. For a computers, PC, etc, then the app is needed for whatever OS.
So far, I’ve used DIGITS with the following devices by just moving the SIM card to the new device:
- Samsung Gear S
- Samsung Note 4
- LEMFO LEM 4 PRO
- LEMFO LEM 10
- LEMFO LEM T
- TICWRIS MAX
I have Kronos Blade Genesis on order as it is the first wrist device that does the cameras correctly, and will test with it also.
Update from Jason
Thank You, I’m stuck with ATT for now, I do like the idea of the Digits deal. I too am waiting on the Genesis and will probably start with watch droid 9.0 and the universal launcher instead of wii. I might just wait until the genesis arrives and start fresh with that watch and keep my prime for backup. What do you think.
