Recently, I’ve been seeing here a lot of requests for watchfaces presenting a (family) portrait. I understand those requests, but I also believe they are a great opportunity for people to start making their own watchfaces. So, to help you guys making your own portrait watch, here’s a quick video on how to build them on WatchFace Designer. You’ll be surprised on how easy it is to make them and you’ll start making better and better watches in no time

To anyone who is interested in following this tutorial, just remember, this is just a short, basic idea of how to set it up. @Marco_Ferreira made a powerful program and there are a lot of options. I’m not saying this to discourage you, but to encourage you to experiment. Try different fonts, placements, and filters, or even adding a bezel. I especially like adding embossing filters and adding a digital mask to lcd time. Check out some of Marco’s YouTube videos to see other things you can do with his software. And most of all, have fun! If you mess up, don’t be discouraged. Just delete the mess-up and try again.

I vote we create a sticky post at the top with links to all the software (UL, WFD and CS XFER) and some tutorials of how to install faces and videos like this one.

@Marco_Ferreira Thank you so much for the info I think it was my fault when I requested one of my two grandsons and my self because ever since their has been a lot of request since. I have been wanting to learn how to create watch faces but never knew what programs to use or how to start. With your post now I know and I am grateful for the info thank you very much.

@Alex_Wolf You just run (double-click) the WatchFaceDesigner.jar file. You do need to have Java installed (which most people have).

If you don’t have java installed, you can use this download link instead:

It is an installer for WatchFaceDesigner that includes the Java runtime and creates an icon on the start menu (and desktop if you wish it to).
