Kospet Prime 2 Official support UPDATED!

Yep, IMEI is there, phone number is there however ‘Mobile network state’ = disconnected. I suspect APN is incorrect. I think I recall having to change it on the Prime 1. Factory reset is last option - sort of like me reformatting a hard drive to fix a Windows problem - something I have never done. I’ll figure it out.

Ok…
If you had to change it for the Prime then yes, you will have to do it here as well

Not sure if I did change it for the Prime but the settings in the Prime 2 appear to be correct and there does not appear to be any way to change them anyway. I’ll swap the SIM into the other Prime 2 and see if it has the same issue.

Same problem on the other Prime 2

Are you on the v1.4 update? That’s what is on this watch (both of them).

Yes I am.
Give me a few minutes and I will check again. I’m at work.

No hurry. Thanks for all your help

Latest research indicates I need to change the APN settings but there does not seem to be anyway to add or modify the existing one. I have another MTK based phone (MT6763) with a SIM of the same network and provider which works fine but has different APN settings than what the Prime 2 defaults to.

Also if I toggle the ‘Automatically select network’ the screen goes blank and stays that way until I press the lower button on the side.

You go into mobile network settings and scroll down to Access Point Names and open it.
Then you click on the APN you need to edit

Tried that every which way to Sunday but there does not seem to be any way to edit or add to any of the values or to add an APN. I’m going to quit for now. Need to take care of some things for a while but thanks again.

I searched the Prime 1 thread and found my post that confirms I did have to change the APN settings on the Prime 1. Post below. Unfortunately the Prime 2 does not seem to have any option to change APN settings so this watch is worthless for me if I need Internet on the road where there is no Wifi.
Post from Prime 1 thread:

" I got the mobile data working - 4G even. Now I can browse the Internet without Wifi on - Yeah! It was the APN settings. The default ATT broadband wasn’t doing it. I looked at another phone with a Tracfone SIM and it had Straight Talk as the APN so I had to input a boat load of APN settings manually after creating a new Straight Talk APN and that did the trick. Sort of strange though as the previous phone this SIM was in did not require that to be manually set up."

  • In very rare cases some phone carriers separates the APN, one for DATA and other one for MMS. This explain why you can only make phone call and texting but not able to surf on internet. in your case, you should probably add a new APN (for DATA, see the setting from you carrier). It sound stange because it works on your PRIME1 but not on PRIME2, but i work on Pablo11 PRIME2. Aniway, in order to add a new APN, google for ( WHAT TO DO IF APN SETTINGS APPEAR DISABLE) and look for TAMING DROID website it will tell you steb by step. Hope it will help.

thanks tech2u. I was looking in /system/etc at apns-conf.xml and I find the one that’s in the phone currently but there is a line in the .xml file for that APN which says ‘user_editable=false’ which I tried to change to true but without root I can’t save the file. I’ll look into your suggestions though. Thanks!

Tried all that from Taming Android. Unfortunately nothing worked. APN not visible at all if in airplane mode. Turn it off airplane mode and APN’s are set in about 1 second so no option to change or add any APN’s. Hating Android 10 more and more. I I had root it would be fixed but on Android 10 even root probably wouldn’t cut it.

Try a speed test app @droidtrix to see if any data is getting through, and what speed you’re seeing as a suggestion.

Thanks SmartWatch_Ticks, but no data is getting through. I know the problem is the APN setting and I know what I need to change the APN settings to but I am being blocked by the watch OS which won’t let me manually add or change those settings.

Yes you are correct.
Root cannot help UNLESS there is a magisk module that you can use.
Otherwise it is pointless.

I don’t know why you can’t edit APNs because I can.
I just click on the active APN and it allows you to edit it.
No problem

That is why I suggest a factory reset

Equally, Mr Ticks is in the USA and I think he has tmobile… But it is working.

Have you checked the available bands on the hardware actually suitable for your carrier?

Because you can’t just assume that the bands are the same as the A7.1.1 watches.
This is a totally different board and it is different in so many ways

If you look in /system/etc at the apns-conf.xml you will see hundreds of APN’s and mine is in there and it says user_editable=“false”. I’ve seen that there are several places in the phone that hold APN’s in some other files too so not sure if this is why mine won’t edit but it is not changeable. Maybe you can edit yours because your do have root?

I’ll check the bands but as I said I had to change the APN settings on the Prime to get mobile data to work and I can see the settings on this watch are the same as what I originally had on the Prime 1 until I changed them. Once changed mobile data worked. So I’ll look at the bands but I am fairly certain it is just an APN setting. I know in the past some service providers can change them remotely over the air. I’ll look into that also. Thanks again for the help everyone.
