I just got a KW88 and started using it with wiiwatch and things were fine. Except it used to drop bluetooth time and again. So I decided to look for another app for message syncing, and i found
watch droid app.
I was able to install watch droid and also connect them, and then the problems began.
A few minutes after i installed and connected watch droid app, the watch OS crashed asking for reboot now or some adb stuff ( two options). From then on I am able to reboot it and only
some apps work briefly and then it hangs. i am unable to open settings to either uninstall watch droid or do a factory reset. am unable to open google play store app aswell to uninstall it.
i am also unable to connect to any bluetooth app thereafter. it continuously flashes messages like ‘bluetooth on first’, or ‘bluetooth broadcast blah blah’ and i am thinking it hangs on the
bluetooth thereafter.
since i am unable to uninstall the watch droid app ( and i have asked the developer too, and he doesn’t know how to uninstall it either …), i might need to reflash the device.
i don’t know what firmware was there originally, didn’t care initially, but now i do .
Can anyone throw some light on whats going on ? can i flash android wear on it … or do i have to stick to the kw firmware ? assuming i need to flash to get back to some normalcy …
whenever i long press a little on bluetooth icon, or wifi icon, or the settings app it flashes a status saying “14% loading” and vanishes. i am unable to settings app to start
to do a reset. unable to launch google play app either. but i see it in the background and can swipe it away…
can i get into the restore mode somehow ? to restore back to factory settings ? remember, i can’t do it from the settings app, as i am unable to launch it …
I am looking at some videos that talk about installing the USB drivers to recognize the watch. Now i don’t know if i already have them or not. i did a lot of circus connecting my
watch to different USB ports, and now i think it shows a device KW88 with three folders in it. So now, do i assume that the USB drivers are correctly installed ? I am totally confused man !
When i flash the above FW do i do it as an upgrade or download only mode ?
I am a bit lucky in that i have some experience of installing twrps and custom roms on phones, but i can understand the frustration of others who find this a really uphill task.
I actually bought a smart watch to be smart and simplify my life… but it appears i’ve gotten into a real quagmire now …jeez !
Ok. Now i think i might have installed the MTP usb driver, but it just shows up briefly in the device manager app, and then vanishes…
The usb driver auto installer at the Kingwear site does not have the installer for windows 10 …
Even if i rescan for hardware changes, the MTP usb driver doesn’t show up in the dev manager. only if i reconnect it shows up briefly and vanishes. i am assuming that this
is important to be installed correctly or we cannot flash the firmware to the device …
the device shows up fine in the portable device section as mtp usb device…when the watch is switched on…
but when the watch is off, it briefly shows up in the ports section and vanishes…?
This is the strangest thing I have seen. i successfully flashed the firmware and everything went smoothly and sp tool said ok in the end, and when i booted up the phone,
i found the same old OS !!! what the heck !! Nothing changed !
So you succeed in flashing ? And after that the OS didn’t asked you for langage and so on ?
So obviously the data part was not flashed and you kept all your settings and your problem also. You have to select download mode and flash all the parts.
that is why i found it strange. i should have gotten the OS setup screen etc. i was surprised to see the exact same stuff as before. even the watch droid app was there !
like i said, i didn’t see the first red bar (preloader), and the purple bar (boot loader) before the yellow bar (like in many videos). it directly went to the yellow bar
and zoom flashed it pretty quick. under a minute. and a big green tick. i did this twice. same result …
Don’t worry about unlock bootloader. It makes absolutely no difference with these watches.
You need to flash the firmware using the firmware upgrade option in SP Tools.
Make sure all partitions are ticked, including the pre-loader.
This ensures a clean install and formats the data, SD card and system partitions.
You should be ok after this.
You already have the firmware right? As you have flashed it already.
i have already flashed twice using the download only. since my version already has the bt app i think it should be the latest. can’t check as i can’t open settings.
everything was ticked. after flashing when i switch on the watch, things are exactly the same as before as if the flash never happened !
like i said, i don’t see the red bar, and the purple bar. the sp tool directly does the yellow bar and flashes it fast under 1 min…
nope. tried with firmware upgrade option also. all the settings and previously installed app (watch droid) are still there. even the downloaded clock skin. exactly as before.
as if the flash didn’t happen at all !
