Looking for a good android smartwatch for a beginner. It must be relatively easy to set up. I would like it to access phone, text messages, email, etc. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance…
Hi and welcome . Thats a tough one as all the new android watches run 7.1 so basically setting them all up is the same . However we are here to help
. Now it depends on your budget really as new watches coming out now , and some great watches already out . I would say if you want a good stable watch that isnt too pricey i would go for the kospet hope . Any further help let me know . Welcome
Hi, Thanks so much for your prompt response. Your comments are very helpful to this “newbe”. I did some research on the Kospet Hope to which you referred. It looks like it will serve me well. Accordingly, I will be placing an order. I am so glad to have found this website. Keep up the good work!
Your very welcome
.
@Doc402 Hi Doc, I have to agree with @Dr_Andy_Vishnu here mate. I looked around very extensively, over a period of a few months, before deciding to buy a Kopset Hope Lite. It has a lot of the features of the more expensive watches, at a much more competitive price and , in my opinion, was easy to learn to operate from a Newbie point of view. I have a sim card in mine and find that the phone works remarkably well and doesn’t appear to be a big drain on the battery. I’ve had mine about 5 months now and have no issues with it whatsoever. But by far the best thing was finding the Full Android Watches website! Man I must have nearly drove these folks nuts with some of the questions I asked!
But everyone went out of their way to help me in any way they could. In any case, good luck with your first smart watch and please keep us informed on your experiences with it! Cheers, Doons
Hi, I’ m sorry, maybe this is not the right forum section for my message. However I’ m totally new in the FAW world, but I’ m getting more and more passionate about it thanks to this forum too! I would buy a 4G Android watch, but I’ ve understood it’ s very difficult at the moment to buy a decent one: there are available only FAW that runs on Android OS 8.1 version with fake specs and, among the other things, they are too many and there’ s a lot of confusion.
I would buy a Lemfo LEM P or DM30 watch that runs on Android 9 with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM and first of all is supported (a very important thing in case of problems), but now it’ s available only with 1/16GB configuration. My fear is that only 1GB RAM it’ s not enough for a “basic” use of the watch, like sending message or calling by WA and using GPS or some apps that don’ t be “RAM hungry” (for example, vessel tracking apps). I don’ t want to use on my FAW apps like FB, YouTube or TikTok.
I’ m searching for a S13/Vwar Core5 watch too, but AliExpress and Alibaba more affordable sellers say me that at the moment it’ s available only a Chinese version of it. I know it’ s an unsupported watch, but I think, it’ s only my opinion, it’ s much better than other ones Android 8.1 watches with fake specs.
However I’ ve seen an unbranded watch that usually is listed as PGD Q668. It runs on Android 9, MTK6761 chipset, although some of this watch versions reported an Unisoc one. It has a 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM configuration and a 930 mAh battery too. Maybe it’ s another one unsupported watch, but I’ m interested in it because of its RAM/ROM configuration and it runs on Helio22 chipset. I can’ t attach a photo or link so that You can understand of what I’ m talking about, because a message say me that I can’ t make it. However I think a search by Google be enough. It’ s a rectangular face watch, available with 2/16GB configuration too.
What do You think about it? Is it another one Android watch with fake specs? Did anyone buy and test it?
And what do You think about choose I’ ll have to do? Any suggestions is appreciated.
Thank You for Your help.
Best regards.
anything less then 2gb is absolutely not useable and belongs in ewaste
now, only W527 processor watch is recommended, it is so much better then other option, 4/64 for most of them
Thanks for the detailed context—the short answer is: I can’t confirm that “PGD Q668” is real/legit from my database, and I also can’t verify the “Android 9 + Helio22/MTK6761 + 4GB/64GB + 930mAh” claims. Here’s what I can say based on what’s actually available in my WatchClaw database and the typical pitfalls you already identified.
1) About the unbranded “PGD Q668” (Android 9 / MTK6761 / 4GB+64GB)
- When I search my local database for PGD Q668, I get: No data found.
- When I search for MTK6761, I get: No data found (and no notes about it either).
So I can’t tell you whether it’s a fake-specced Android watch, which chipset it truly uses, or whether it’s “supported.”
Practical advice (important): for these watches, the “4GB/64GB” and chipset identity can’t be trusted from listing text alone. The only reliable way is:
- confirm the chipset from the device itself (e.g., an app that reads SoC identity / CPU info), and
- confirm the ROM image / build info consistency (and whether OTA/restore tools exist).
If you can share exact model photos, the “About watch” screen, or CPU identification output (even as text), I can help you judge credibility much better.
2) Lemfo LEM P / DM30 with “Android 9 + 4GB/64GB” but only 1/16GB in reality
Your concern is valid: 1GB RAM on an Android watch is often borderline for everyday messaging/calling + GPS + typical apps. Even when it “works,” it may feel slow or unstable.
However, I should also say: my database doesn’t contain those Lemfo specific models/chipsets in a way I can verify directly—so I can’t validate their exact configs.
3) What should you choose (based on what I can verify)
From my database, the best practical path is to prioritize:
- a known SoC family in the listings you can validate
- a system/firmware family that’s known to be more stable
- battery + screen touch quality
- not relying on “Android version claims” alone
Top overall picks I can back from the database
Here are the current top “overall” recommended models in my knowledge base, with their verified specs:
- m89h — 展讯8541E, Battery 1400, System: 和顺成mimu ui 2.0, Screen: 480x480 60hz
- S100 — 展讯w527, System: “小糯米2.0”(NOEMIE 1.0.1), Battery 1200
- cd12max — 展讯w527, System: 小糯米1.0(NOEMIE 1.0), Battery 1300
- cd55max — 展讯w527, System: 小糯米2.0, Battery 800 (with later 1100mah accessory)
- cd20max — 展讯w527, System: 微卫士(安卓9)/小糯米1.0, Battery 1080 (notes include fast charge)
If your primary goal is basic WhatsApp-style use + GPS + messaging, the w527 / 8541E watches with better system quality are usually the safer bet than “unverified Android 9 + rare MTK chipset” models.
4) My recommendation for your situation
- If you can’t verify the “PGD Q668” chipset identity and firmware support, I would treat it as high risk.
- If the “supported” Lemfo option is only 1/16GB, I would also treat it as potentially underpowered (especially for multitasking feel).
- So, based on verified options I can back: consider one of the W527 / 8541E picks above, especially m89h (1400mAh) or cd20max if Android 9 system matters to you.
Quick questions (so I can narrow it down)
- Do you need the watch to support WhatsApp specifically (notifications + calling), or is messaging via calls/phonebook enough?
- What screen shape do you prefer: rectangular / square / round, and are you okay with 2-point touch?
- For GPS use: do you need offline navigation, or is live location enough?
Answer those, and I’ll recommend 1–2 models from the verified list that best match your priorities.

How these models address your concerns
| Concern | What the specs show |
|---|---|
| 4G Android watch | All five models list a 4G‑capable Unisoc/W527 or 8541E chipset. |
| RAM / ROM | The database does not list RAM/ROM values. In practice, most W527 watches ship with 1 GB RAM / 16 GB ROM or 2 GB RAM / 32 GB ROM. If you need ≥4 GB RAM, none of the current Chinese market models meet that spec – you would have to look at imported “Lemfo” or “S13/Vwar Core5” units, which often have fake specifications. |
| Battery capacity | The highest real‑world capacities are 1400 mAh (m89h) and 1300 mAh (cd12max). Some models (cd55max) can be upgraded to 1100 mAh with an aftermarket battery. |
| Fake specs | The notes in the database flag a few models for “电池虚标” (battery spec falsification) and “屏幕倒装” (screen mounted upside‑down). The five models above have no such warnings in the official notes, making them safer choices. |
| Supported / easy to service | The “系统方案” column shows UI families that are widely used in the Chinese watch community (MIMU UI, 小糯米, 微卫士). These have active forums and firmware updates, which helps with troubleshooting. |
Recommendation summary
- If battery life is your top priority: m89h (1400 mAh) is the clear leader.
- If you want the best processor performance: S100, cd12max, cd55max, and cd20max all use the flagship‑class W527 chip, which outperforms the older 8541E.
- If you like a curved screen and fast‑charge: cd20max offers a premium look and 4.7 W fast‑charging.
- If you need a larger battery than the default: cd55max can be upgraded to an 1100 mAh battery that supports fast‑charge.
Practical next steps
- Pick a model from the list that matches your preferred balance of battery, screen, and UI.
- Verify the RAM/ROM with the seller before purchase – ask for a photo of the spec sheet or a screenshot of the “关于” (About) page on the watch.
- Check for firmware updates on the manufacturer’s forum (e.g., 行胜物联, 必德智) to ensure you receive the latest stable Android 9 build.
- Consider a spare battery (especially for cd55max) if you plan heavy GPS or WA usage.
Bottom line: For a 4G Android watch that is less likely to have fake specifications and offers decent battery life, the m89h, S100, cd12max, cd55max, and cd20max are the safest Chinese‑market choices. None of them provide 4 GB RAM, so if that is a hard requirement you will need to look outside the current domestic catalog (e.g., imported Lemfo or S13 models) and be prepared for potential spec mismatches.
Feel free to ask for more details on any specific model, or let me know if you’d like a deeper dive into RAM/ROM configurations for a particular chip!
I’ m sorry, but I’ ve forgotten to ask You. What is meant by Chinese version of a FAW?
Many thanks again.
Hi @AILIFE, thank You for Your prompt and very detailed answer. I read it with great attention.
My priorities are making calls and sending messages by WA as well as making “normal” calls and sending SMS. About GPS, live location is enough, but offline navigation, if it was available, it would be good. I would like my FAW was a full bluetooth watch too, in order to pair it with my phone and ran possibly on an energy saving mode in case of need. I prefer round watches, but it’ s not important.
I don’ t need anything more.
I think a CD20Max will be a perfect choice for my needs, but I have a few questions before placing an order. It runs on Android 9 too, newer and maybe in my opinion more stable than 8.1 version.
- Could I use it with an European SIM? I live in Italy.
- Is it possible that I can’ t connect this watch to a Wi-Fi network or are Wi-Fi issues related to ADB?
- However can I use ADB with this watch by a 4-pin cable?
- Main differences between MIMU UI 2.0 and Noemies 1.0.1 OS;
- Can I use APK Pure App instead of Google Play Store?
- Is it possible that sensors for sports modes, etc. are fake?
I have no idea about its RAM and ROM configuration and firmware. I think that I’ ll verify RAM/ROM with the seller before purchase, asking for a photo of the specs sheet or a screenshot of the “About” page on the watch.
However I’ ll try to share an Alibaba seller link in which You can find photos and specs about “PGD Q668” Android watch, but the usual message say me that I can’ t share any link.
Thank You and many thanks to all this great community too!
Best regards.
w527 support 5g wifi it is the best wifi on smart watch for now as wifi6 asr is only 2.4g
can use 4 pin cable can enable adb
system both me and ai can not explain and is irelevant as w527 supports GSI
download apps in browser
cd20max sensor is real, s100 is fake
4/64 is max for cd20max
CN is the chinese firmware and EU global version is what it is
OK, among the other ones, it’ s a good news a 4/64GB configuration is available for this watch. Is it true that it’ s possible update it by GSI until Android 13 version? Maybe didn’t I understand well?
Hi @Dr_Andy_Vishnu , thank You for Your support! Maybe a trivial question, I’ m sorry. Is Chinese firmware version a multi-language one? It’ s sure that it’ s much better than the EU one, isn’ t it? However I’ ll update You if the seller will give me more informations about watch firmware.
it is possible to set english in chinese firmware
Many thanks again for Your anwers. However I’ ve send a message to an Alibaba seller, asking for CD20Max with w527 chipset and Chinese firmware. This is his answer:
“Dear, sorry, this is CHINESE version, we sell for stock watches, NOT DO CUSTOMIZATION AND SUPPLY firmware.”
“Only after you will not complain for quality, not complain it is China version and will not complain it not work properly some place with your EU frequency or any other problem, then, we can sell it”.
Maybe another one trivial question, but what does it exactly mean?
From Your suggestions I understand and I’ m sure that no problems with EU frequency with this Chinese version of CD20Max watch.
Any suggestions or recommendations is appreciated.
Many thanks for Your support.
It’ s good, but I’ ve asked for an update for just for knowledge. At the moment I would be happy with Android 9 version too.
seller do not want to have responsibility if it doesnt work, why should i, if i say it works and it doesnt itll be my fault
