Full Android watch with Transflective display?

Hi

Okay, does anyone know of an existing or possibly ‘coming soon’ full android watch with a transflective display. Coming from using a sony sw3 with transflective display why aren’t more watch makers using this technology instead of using AMOLED etc. I had a inwatch z some time ago with transflective display and it is really useful. Does it cost more to produce?

Kingwear have a new FS08 I think it’s called which is transflective but it’s not full android unfortunately.

What to do you reckon?

No right now
Waiting for this too

production is more expensive, while the reflective layer is harder to make. but anyhow i love it too and for the consumer it shouldnt be that much to add up onan amoled price

there was one watch not so long ago, but tried to get it and they just stopped production and distribution at that time… they are now doing led… fifine or so was the brand name

Can you imagine the new Zeblaze Thor pro with 1.53 inches display and transflective bigger are better I just bought it.
When I get it I will give some impression

According to what I read it is an IPS LCD screen.

What is an IPS LCD screen?

IPS is an acronym for in-plane switching, which is a screen technology that is used with LCD screens. In-plane switching was designed to address limitations in the LCD screens of the late 1980s that used a twisted nematic field effect matrix. The TN method was the only technology available at the time for active matrix TFT (Thin Film Transistor) LCDs. The main limitations of twisted nematic field effect matrix LCDs are low-quality color and a narrow viewing angle. IPS-LCDs deliver better color reproduction and wider viewing angles.

In a review video it shows the Thor Pro supports the Gesture mode. I don’t believe you would need that with a transflective display which displays all the time?

No it’s not transflective is just ips lcd for better angles viewing I was just saying that bigger is better if it’s was transflective would be much better. It’s the first android Smartwatch with 1.53 round display and that was the i was looking for

Not sure how you can tell anything from this video. You can't see anything from all the glare and a slight language problem.

Si no es el mejor video pero muestra claramente como la pantalla del Zeblaze Thor pro es mejor ala luz del sol que los otros relojes.

yes he does, you can see the brightness differences, you can tell even if you own the Zeblaze thor pro

Hi

I am the creator of the video and I have these three clocks I will upload one where I show the battery consumption of the three clocks in conditions of :sunny:

Mr. Ticks also has a new video out to test the visibility of the screen in direct light. The difference is he does it in a controlled setting and you can clearly see the the ability of the screen to be viewed in direct light. It is on his YT channel.

Well it is not the best quality but it is made in a real environment as it would look on a day to day basis.

Hi gang, thought I’d tickle your joy button a bit about this. I’m totally excited about the visibility of the THOR PRO outdoors. I took a stroll down the local walking path with my watch in camera mode and, because of the watch screen basically reflecting the gray scale of light, the camera images were black and white, but high contrast - much more contrast than if they had been color. So I found it very easy to compose my pictures by leveling my arm, getting my hand out of the way, etc., without having to strain to see the screen. The pictures, of course, are in full color, it’s just the screen that’s high contrast B&W display. I actually really like that it does this from a photography perspective. Just wish the camera were 5MP.

I am a big user of the Floating Toucher app, and – here’s a treat – when you tap the screen timeout option over and over, it cycles through all the available timeouts from 15 sec to 30 min, then there’s one more: infinity (and it sticks there even through reboot).

So I set my screen on ‘always on’ and selected brightness to low (outdoor image doesn’t change, so low brightness gives best battery life). I got a full 6 hours out of my battery in this mode, never turning off the screen and using the watch to take pictures, capture my walking data, including GPS through the fitness app Gliderun (which actually talks to you as well), and playing with different watch faces. I’d call this a rather heavy load. Oh, and cellular was on as well so I could see my map track on Gliderun.

I may do a followup video on this later, but for now I’m just having too much fun!

EDIT: Do any of you know a way to actually turn off the display light on the THOR PRO? Since this isn’t an OLED screen, I’m pretty sure there’s a light behind the IPS display, and it has a nice “low” setting, but I’l like to turn it completely off for outdoor use. I’ve seen several approaches to toss a screen filter over the display image making everything appear darker, but that approach badly affects the reflected outdoor image. I just want to turn the display light off without affecting the screen image. I’ve seen a app that professes to be able to do it, but it requires rooting, which I’d rather avoid. Any creative ideas on how to do this?
