I took a stroll down the local walking path with my watch in camera mode and, because of the watch screen basically reflecting the gray scale of light, the camera images were black and white, but high contrast - much more contrast than if they had been color. So I found it very easy to compose my pictures by leveling my arm, getting my hand out of the way, etc., without having to strain to see the screen. The pictures, of course, are in full color, it's just the screen that's high contrast B&W display. I actually really like that it does this from a photography perspective. Just wish the camera were 5MP.
I am a big user of the Floating Toucher app, and – here’s a treat – when you tap the screen timeout option over and over, it cycles through all the available timeouts from 15 sec to 30 min, then there’s one more: infinity (and it sticks there even through reboot).
So I set my screen on ‘always on’ and selected brightness to low (outdoor image doesn’t change, so low brightness gives best battery life). I got a full 6 hours out of my battery in this mode, never turning off the screen and using the watch to take pictures, capture my walking data, including GPS through the fitness app Gliderun (which actually talks to you as well), and playing with different watch faces. I’d call this a rather heavy load. Oh, and cellular was on as well so I could see my map track on Gliderun.
I may do a followup video on this later, but for now I’m just having too much fun!
EDIT: Do any of you know a way to actually turn off the display light on the THOR PRO? Since this isn’t an OLED screen, I’m pretty sure there’s a light behind the IPS display, and it has a nice “low” setting, but I’l like to turn it completely off for outdoor use. I’ve seen several approaches to toss a screen filter over the display image making everything appear darker, but that approach badly affects the reflected outdoor image. I just want to turn the display light off without affecting the screen image. I’ve seen a app that professes to be able to do it, but it requires rooting, which I’d rather avoid. Any creative ideas on how to do this?
Hi Mr. smartwatchticks! I noticed that on one of your videos you increased Thor Pro brightness with an Ok Google command. Have you done that offline or Ok Google “device commands” only work online (with wifi on or data on) on this watch? Thanks.
for google assistant to work in Zeblaze Thor pro, it can only be done with a data connection and I do it sharing data via Bluetooth from my Smartphone and it works perfectly.
