What I wonder is: how legit these are? I know specs are often inflated or skewed, but the RAM and storage are primary configuration features I feel like they cannot mess with unless it’s a flat out fraud (intentionally tainted firmware for example to show more than what it really is, like in the old times with pen drives).
What I can imagine maybe is “virtual” RAM: since I was looking at tiny phones (like the Unihertz Jelly Star) I peeked at the Ulefone Armor Mini 20 Pro and if you scroll to the middle of that page you can see that the claimed 16GB RAM is actually only 8GB RAM, and only becomes 16GB with some kind of a 8GB “virtual” RAM. Android has some memory expansion feature now, but I have a feeling that if they use the UFS storage for memory swap essentially, then it’ll be so sorry experience when back in late 1990 I expanded my 8MB system RAM to 16MB with swapping on a spinning HDD.
Now 8GB is not bad BTW, quite nice, but 16GB is better and 32GB is even better. Why would I need that much? I’ll run local LLMs on edge devices like FAWs. I know their CPU is not too fast, however MediaPipe could provide 4-10 tok/sec even in CPU only inference mode. My application won’t expect the LLM to write a Shakespeare novel, or be fast.
The 32GB+256GB watch arrived. It’s a quite large watch very big screen and the screen’s glass is very slightly curved, I like it. The storage is told to be 256GB, I have not been able to verify the memory yet. The settings claims the model is H18, build K13_V11D_HM_H18_EN_ZX_HSC_4.4V1000_20250414_1719
When I click on the System at the bottom of the Storage Settings menu, it displays “System includes files used to run Android version 10.0“.
My biggest - and deal breaking - problem: clicking on the build number doesn’t seem to do anything. How to put it into Developer mode? I see in the Questions about H18 - #44 by Dr_Andy_Vishnu topic that supposedly both H18 and H19 are Android 8.1, the AliExpress listing claimed Android 9. In that topic it was also said that H19 supposedly have a fake Settings. How can I determine that, and are there any other techniques to enable Developer mode than clicking on the build number?
Its already confirmed these watches are A8.1 with fake specs. Also the way the sellers fake this is getting better ( regardless of what HW info says ). Developer options locked on all these watches. However a few options sometimes work -
Unfortunately your statement of that watch being fake is completely true. I’d have been OK if it had just half the claimed memory, like 16GB instead of 32GB, or maybe even 8GB. But in reality it only has 3GB, and the storage is also not 256GB of course, and the real Android version is 8.1 (no surprise to you). So I’m sending it back. The other fake watch with 16GB RAM will arrive tomorrow.
As you warned, the GoldenSpike watch was also fake. When you said fake, I thought about things like it does not really have NFC, or a different SoC they claim, things like that. But to have less than 1/10th or 1/5th of memory which is on the spec is straight up scam. So the earlier watch had 3GB instead of 32GB, and the GoldenSpike is essentially the same, also 3GB RAM instead of 16GB.
Physically is it’s very close, the diameter is just a hair less than the fake 32GB model, and instead of round buttons only the center button is round (the camera periscope), the other two are rectangular flat.
I’ll be honest i have no idea. I gave up on these watches quickly and boxed them away. Without a workaround developer options is locked on every one of the A8 watches
