Just FYI,
If you read up on this, you will find that the “mode change” just uses the launcher to hide most applications.
Other than that, it’s the same as normal mode.
You can’t remove the Clean Task icon but you can disable it from automatically killing apps.
You can find the details here in this thread.
Hi Z40 folk, after reading about some movement on the VoLTE front in Australia, with the shut down of the 3g network looming, I was wondering if there had been any success confirming it on the Lokmat appllp 4 pro?
I had a go at opening the unisoc engineering mode to do the confirmation test, but nothing in the telephony menu looks like it selects LTE only. There are a lot labled VoLTE but they appear to be for inputting and applying settings.
I used the code: * # * #83781# * # * for spreadtrum / unisoc / ZTE. (No spaces though. Something in the posting pane didn’t recognise the * symbol unless it was spaced.).
If anyone is more courageous, knowledgable, willing and able than I am to test the VoLTE only calling it would be wonderful news on the continued future of our phone on the wrist.
yes, 3G network has been cut of in my area in the UK and my Lem 16 still makes voice calls and i didnt have to change anything it seems as if it happened automatically…yet a couple of months ago when i tried it, it wouldnt make voice calls…it seems since they have made changes to the certification and VoLTE it now allows voice calls
Hello Pablo, I had a go at opening the unisoc engineering mode to do the confirmation test, but nothing in the telephony menu looks like it selects LTE only. There are a lot labled VoLTE but they appear to be for inputting and applying settings.

Hope this helps to confirm VoLTE for some courageous z40 owners. I’m still scared of engineering mode…
Hello Logan1, thanks for your ongoing efforts, allong with Pablo11, to check VoLTE on the Z40 watches. Here’s hoping they work as they are a great A11 phone on the wrist.
You don’t need a code for the Z40.
Just go to the About Watch item in Settings and tap on System Version.
Then tap on the kernel version several times until the engineering menu opens.
Tap on Network Mode
Then Sim 0
In here you can select LTE FDD single mode or TD-LTE/LTE FDD dual mode.
Both will prevent the watch from using GSM or WCDMA (2G & 3G)
Both of these settings work for me now where previously they didn’t.
Again, you only need to do this if you want to PROVE LTE is working.
The watch will automatically select LTE if it is available, whereas it did not prior to the shut down of 3G.
By the way, you can also access the factory test menu by using the same method, apart from the need to tap on the baseband version instead of the kernel version.
As always, be careful what you are doing in these sub settings and take note of how things are at the moment before you start changing anything.
Cheers
A few weeks into the 3g closure and my telstra prepaid is still working for calls. So glad the watch has used LTE as needed and that Telstra must have realised how their restrictions would have impacted far to many servicable phones, and relaxed them. I will be travelling soon from inland NSW to the coast through a number of dark zones which will be a great test of 4g service. Thanks Pablo, for testing this earlier and reporting on the change Telstra implimented.
My trip through a couple of state forests to the coast and on up the M1 demonstrated the 4G coveage is not as dark as feared. The signal is there and calls are as clear as previously experienced. The only real difference is battery consumption in the lesser bar regions. As expected, the drain was a little more than before. This was more than offset when I reached my destination as the signal strength was always full bars and the battery barely dropped overnight in standby. Two and a half days with light call use (11 short calls, a couple of texts and a photo session for my 350z and a motorcycle through a corner speed sign - not a great event, but no serious injury noted) and blue tooth headphones for the 10 hours driving in that time before the 15% recharge prompt… still very happy with the phone on the wrist and 4G calls.
Thanks for the update.
Yes, weaker signal areas will drain the battery.
But, overall access to the 4G LTE network is quite good.
When you are in a good signal strength area, VoLTE will use less power than the previous mode.
LTE is lower power but gets better results than 3G which uses more power.
Good to hear that you have had a reasonable experience
