Wear OS x Android OS

Hi guys I bought a Zeblaze thor four pro. I didn’t make a lot of research so I’m doing right now… Could you please try to explain to me the difference between a smartwatch without wear OS and another that runs only the Android 7.1.1??like our Zeblaze?
Like what am I losing? Or there is some gaining on it?
I thought all the smart watches has to run a plataform beside the real Operation system…

Hello,

There are quite a few differences in between Wear OS and those Android 7.1.1 watches.

Wear OS is official and get updated from Google direct (I guess). It gets official apps for round screens, app selection is poor as they have to be made for Wear OS. Battery life is supposedly better and you get BT calling. Support is from watch manufacturer (most of the time they don’t give crap about your hardware problems so you end up returning it). Health tracking is pretty good.

Android 7.1.1 Watches are on a modified Android version (stripped down of a few things) and have access to almost ALL android apps (HUGE selection of apps). No BT calling for now (might never come). Battery life is ok (getting better and better with updates). Support is great (on this forum), but no ‘easy’ way to return if you don’t like (no store to return it, have to deal with the online store you bought it with). Health tracking is subpar, but is getting better (HR sensor on my Kospet Hope is spot on +/- 1 bpm compared to medical devices) and some will be getting gps tracking soon (as far as we know).

Basically those watches (Andriod 7.1.1) are for people who like to play with their devices and customize it at will. They are (in my humble opinion) superior to their Wear OS sisters and will get better as time goes by.

Beside like you just said, the BT calling is working fine but not to bad in A5 watches, beside that A5 its not well optimize for power consumption , A6 maybe

working ok and little better for the battery life and did see some watches with BT calling working and A7 well optimize for everything, yeah not BT calling, but you forget something 3G and 4G independent  call capabilities but just Tmobile and At&t.

Hi Guys,
I really appreciate your kindness to answer me…
My Zeblaze don’t arrive yet, and I’m already worried about some stuff I’ve been reading in our forum. Acctually I’m a very noob user of smartwatches at all…
I’m reading that de BT calling is possible if you use some Apps? Probably my Thor four will come with A7.1.1… I’m not intend to use with a SIM card

What does TWRP means?
Why Do we need to follow other updates stuff instead of the regular ones? Like “Tools and Root Pack” whats does it for?

Sorry for the noob questions…

Best Regards
Yamamoto
