SUGGESTION: It would be useful if PATTERN LAYER had parameters like HEIGHT, WIDTH or RADIUS. Now it takes the whole face. In my opinion if we could resize it and move around the face, would be more useful.
he he. Actually, I've implemented it yesterday. Now that's good timing . I needed it for a watchface I was designing (see the month dial) . It will be available on the next release.
I was not sure how to implement it, so I’ve made text from 12 to (but not including) 6 o’clock facing the opposite side of the text from 6 to (but not including) 12 o’clock. I think it reads better that way. In your example, however, you have the text always facing the same side which will make text at 9 o’clock to be upside down. I’m not sure that’s what you intended, but if it is, I’ll add that mode also.
Hi, How can I make a box which is like it is under the surface like in this date? I know it normally can be done with a bevel effect and just turn the light direction around but whatever I am doing the box is on top? Also is there any way I can cover up the week days so only the actual day is shown? I actually made a sample to show here, but it seems like the photo has to be hosted somewhere on the net, Hope it all makes sense anyway. Thanks for all your work with this software, much appreciated.
Tooltip behaviour changed. Now they are shown in a box, without overlapping anything
New Emboss effect method: Experimental. As the name indicates this is an experimental method that tries to distinguish between inside holes and outside empty space. This can be slow on layers with many holes.
New Layer List operations: Expand All, Collapse All, AutoGroup Layers
New “Recent Files” listing on File menu
Export to Watchmaker now supports Galaxy Gear S3 watches (these watches didn’t support some characters on the original export)
AnimatedImageLayer now supports both GIF files or a List of Images. This also allows to import a ClockSkin with animated images (was breaking before)
Changed the Preview window to a Preview Panel (now you can select a view on the bottom tabs)
New Exploded View tab
Probably a lot of other things that I was slowly adding and forgetting to take a note
I’ve tried to fulfill all the requests. However, some requests I couldn’t (yet) fulfill, such as outter/pillow emboss. I couldn’t figure out yet how Photoshop creates the bump map for these cases, so If someone as some knowledge/algorithm, I’m happy to hear about it. Also, the “squared bezel” wasn’t also implemented, because I need time to implement the concept of “components”, that will allow creating, sharing and adding third-party “components” to WFD. One such component can be the squared bezel. Also, it’s already possible to do it with a few RectangularLayers and linear gradients. Even though I tried not to, I may have forgotten some requests. If that was the case for a request of yours, I’m sorry and please request it again so I can take notice
As always, with new features, come new bugs (and sometimes old ones too). Please point them out if you find them.
And now, the download link is: bit.ly/2MF3fxq (also available on the first post).

On items such as “Opacity” make a check if the number typed into the box is outside the range before applying it.
This happens on most settings the have Upper or Lower cap values.
I’m all the time messing with the “Noise” layer and think I’m on the Coarsiveness setting and I’m typing 2 into the Opacity box and Crash.
Also, on the new Emboss, what do the “Inside” and “Outside” settings refer to?

Thanks for the bug report. It had eluded me . I’ve already fixed it and will try to release the fixed version soon.
About the Inside/Outside, it’s used for layers that have holes. Since an image is better than a thousand words, here’s a movie showing it working
Thanks for the video description. Makes sense now.
One other oddity… If you make a concentric rings later and apply an emboss, the angle doesn’t seem to function right. If you move the angle slider, it goes from vertical to horizontal fading in-between those two angles, not rotating as expected. I can try to make a video later if that doesn’t make sense.
I have a little request for WFD.
Is it possible to add a function to duplicate a layer WITHIN a Grouplayer?
Normally when you duplicate something it’s added on top of everything.
But sometimes i want to add a layer within an existing layer and the only way to do that is to ungroup it, then duplicate and then group it again. And that’s annoying because i lose the group settings that way.

PS.
Keep up the good work
Another addition to this request. When you duplicate a layer add it right below the one being duplicated instead of at the bottom of the list.
Haha with software like this you will never get finished, all ways new improvements to make
Here is one:
Could be great if you could drag or slide the layers to the position you want instead of having to use the arrow keys. An alternative, as somebody else has mentioned, when you make a new segment it will come directly under the chosen layer and not at the bottom as it is now.
Sorry English is not my first language, but I hope it makes sense anyway.
He he... After I got filthy rich, I bought the Finow X5 Air. And I could (almost) break even
But…
A long while after that, I bought an AllCall W1. And since I was not satisfied enough, I won a KW66 (in reality it was an AllCall W2) on the World Cup 2018 watchface design competition. And to make the story short, after all that (two days ago to be more precise), my original watch (it was a Wear watch), the LG Watch R, broke down, so 3 + and 1 -, full Android watches winning

Hi, thanks for the suggestions. The drag and drop thing is in my to do list, but I keep moving it down the priorities because I find more interesting stuff to make For example, there’s a way to make layers move (clunky, I agree, but works), but there’s no way to share layers between watchfaces. And many times I see myself wishing I could reuse my “logo” layers, or my hand layers, or whatever… So, when I find myself redoing layers that I have already done before, I move the drag and drop to the end and make a new to-do item: make it possible to share layers between designs.
Anyway, I’ll try to prioritise the drag/drop and “duplicate next to the original layer”, since there has been already multiple requests (so it must be affecting many more users). I’ll also see if i can make the layers draggable out of a group or into a group

Would it be possible to import XML code as new layers? Say, make some hands and save those as an XML file then after you make a face, import that XML as new layers on top of the ones already created, ignoring some of the code in the saved XML that says what layer it is and only look at the properties? Just an idea.

Yes, that’s the path I’m going (already implemented it like that). But I do think it should be a little more flexible than just the layers. If I’m able to finish it, you’ll see it in the next version. By the way, just finished implementing the drag and drop (but only of a single layer/effect at a time) and the duplicate button nowplaces the new layers right below the old one…

Nice one and well done on winning the comp
Whats the KW66 like ? Practically impossible to but at the moment

It’s nice. A little too bulky, but that’s what makes a sports watch sporty . I really like the Android 7 and the WiiWatch 2. Nice battery savings. I wish I could have them on the X5 Air and on the W1

I used to be a huge finow fan until the last square effort ( total shocker ) for me . Keep up the great work . Its appreciated
New version of Watch Face Designer available: 0.13.0
Time for a new version. This one has lots of new things. Here’s the “What’s new”:
What’s new on 0.13.0:
New Spiral Pattern
New S-Line Pattern
New Concentric Rectangles Pattern (with configurable rounded corners)
New Brightness Adjustment Effect
New Frame Rate control on AnimatedLayers
Fixed Textbox input over/below limits bug
Fixed Some patterns save/open bug
Preview GIF export bugfix (AnimatedImageLayers were not previewed correctly)
Made “Enable/Disable Layers” undoable
Modified EmbossEffect with new properties (Normal calculation method, light intensity)
Modified SimpleEmbossEffect with new properties (blur radius and maintain colors)
Fixed AnimationLayer with image list export bug
Fixed AnimationLayer Image List missing actions
I believe the change with most impact will be the new frame rate control on Animated Layers. It was made to work in conjunction with ricktop’s Universal Launcher version 2.6.3, so you may need to update your Universal Launcher to take full advantage of this feature. What it does is allow you to control the frame rate in frames per second (as it was), frames per minute, frames per hour or frames per day. It has the advantage to be synchronized with the real watch time, so if you set an animation with a rate of 60 frames per second, each frame will be presented exactly when the seconds change. If you set it for 2 frames per minute, each frame will be presented exactly on 0 seconds and 30 seconds of each minute. This allows you to create interesting animations. For example, you can precalculate the highlights and shadows of the hands and use the animation as the hand. To help it, two news option have been added to the Layer menu (and the popup menu on right-click of a layer). One allows to export several images of the selected layer by changing the “light angle” properties of the effects in a counter-clockwise matter. If you use those exported images to create an AnimatedLayer, you’ll have an hand where the highlights are always pointing the right way. The other option does the same, but instead of exporting the images, creates the AnimatedLayer directly. But this is just an example. Another is the creation of slideshows… After requests with more than a year, it’s now finally easy to create them, so let those slideshows begin . With (almost) full control on when the frame changes, your imagination is your limit.
I’ll create a post on the G+ community right after finishing this post with an example watch face showing the “slideshow” (one image per hour!) and the hand highlight using animations. The example will also include hands using Andrew Somer (thanks) solution for the same highlight problem, using the new effect, the Brightness Adjustment Effect, to achieve it easily. So go there, download the file, and inspect it to see how to use the new functionalities.
And finally, if you got through all that text and reached this, here’s what you were looking for. The download link is: bit.ly/2wXJOpq. It’s also available, as usual, on the first post.
