VWAR Core3 (with Android 8.1) (H18)

Is there a way to switch/toggle the display from round mode to square mode so that the corners aren’t cut off on some apps?

:+1: :+1: Thanks @Dr_Andy_Vishnu ! So if I’m using UL, I assume I have to close UL to get to the stock launcher, then change the screen to square, then when I’m done needing the square mode, switch back to round, then switch back to UL. (In other words, is there any way to access this display switch from UL?)

I did notice that there is an option in Settings > Display > Margin Shrinkage where for some apps the display can be shrunk a bit to show a little more in the corners.

No. With UL you can still swipe down from the very top and access this menu. No need to switch launcher

Three Questions on VWAR Core3 (Android 8.1):

  1. I periodically (a few times a day) get the notification “Enable Google Play services - Maps won’t work unless you enable Google Play services”. But as far as I can tell Google Play service IS enabled. (If I touch the notification, it brings up a screen for the Google Play services app settings including a button to “disable app”, indicating to me that it is enabled.) Is there a way to fix this?

  2. When this notification happens, it comes with a very loud (seemingly maximum volume) notification sound, even though I’ve turned down the volumes in settings. Can this be adjusted?

  3. While the step counter appears to work in the stock “Walk” app, it does not seem to work elsewhere (on self-made watch faces, on Google Fit). Is this correctable?

This is a common issue on A8.1
If i remember correctly disable the notifications from Google play services. I think even if all permissions granted for Google Maps this still appears.

Clockskins - with UL installed try allowing pedometer in clockskins in UL settings

Thanks @Dr_Andy_Vishnu. I tried disabling the notifications from Google Play Services, tht did not help. The notification is coming from Google Maps, so I looked at the Google Maps notifications, and there is one specifically for Google Play Services availability, so I turned that off. We will see if that helps, but I am optimistic.

Regarding the step counter for UL faces etc., in Android Settings I already have the permissions turned on for body sensors for the WatchClockSkin app (UL). I don’t think that’s the problem. See this screenshot from the WatchDroid Phone app.

I’ll be honest i have no idea. The fact that all the A8.1 watches i have are different doesnt help. Something will work on one then wont on the next unlike A7 / A10 etc

I guess that is (one reason) why it makes perfect sense for A8.1 watches to be officially unsupported on this forum.

Thats true. I have bought around 7 over the last 18 months simply to play with. Some bad , some okay and some great

But you have to be realistic when it comes to support / returns and updates

Hopefully we will see something new from Kospet and Lemfo one day

I’m struggling with the Google Maps interface on this watch (or maybe it’s just me). I can’t zoom in or out by pinching the map. I can zoom in by double-tapping the map, but I can’t figure out how to zoom out.

Normally maps also supports click-and-drag to zoom in and out.

I am not sure what click-and-drag means for a smartwatch touch screen.

you double-click and drop for modify the zoom.

Anybody knows about to copy

You have no choice. Only work with UL

Alright. Does anybody know if it’s a good idea to change from a working Lemp, or Optimus 2, to this watch or the H-18??

I obviously think the answer is NO, but want to read opinions

Pd: got my 2-years-working Lemp without problems until now, only replaced battery by first time 6 months ago.

i think it depends what your needs and expectations are…i have sold my optimus 2 and galaxy watch 6 and use the Core 3 exclusivly…this watch does everything i need from a watch…the A8 platform does not bother me, all my needed apps work flawless…the screen is nice and big and the battery more than enough for my needs…

but as i said, my needs are not your needs…

There are some points that I need to compare between both platforms to decide…
By example, the sports info when you use one of the two models mentioned by me before seems to have more detailed information than the H-18 or VWAR. That could be a negative point from my perspective.
Anyway, I know that there are points positive and negative on both watches.
