This give us new opportunities of modding, changing etc.

Some examples please?
Thanks

My apologies for sounding a bit grumpy but after years of asking people to do something a certain way and then someone does it a different way and wonders why they have unexpected results - my patience wears a bit thin.
Just gets frustrating after a while…

The reason for using the Firmware Upgrade option in SP Tools is because it wipes the old system data and all traces from the watch.
The reason this is needed is because it is absolutely, completely different firmware under the hood.

DO NOT confuse this with “Format All + Download” option. If you use this option all the IMEI, MAC address and security information will be wiped as well. Very bad indeed!!

So if you use download only - you end up with a mixture of old and new firmware. This causes many strange behaviours and terrible battery life.

It’s ok to use download only if you are wanting to mix and match for a reason, like flashing recovery or flashing firmware from a different watch etc…

Anyway, this is why I give specific instructions. Even factory reset doesn’t fix the fact that you now have a mixed up system partition.
Factory reset only wipes data and caches. You would be better off flashing properly and starting again. Just my opinion - if you’re happy - leave it alone.

As far as root is concerned. It’s easily done with the TWRP recovery we have here (depending on the model) and then flashing SuperSu. Done.
DON’T use kingroot or similar. They inject a lot of unnecessary rubbish and sometimes even malware into your system partition and you won’t even realise it. It’s a very dirty method and your data could end up being compromised.

To be honest, I never bother rooting the watches anymore unless there is a really important reason.

So I hope this helps a bit to explain why I give specific instructions and why I might sound a little sharp when I have to repeat it after someone says “my watch is not working correctly - but I didn’t do as you said in the instructions”

Cheers

Pablo.

Where ? Link please ?

Ok, I’m starting to feel real ignorant so forgive me . The original post says it’s available for KW98 and KW99. Then an update has it available for KW88 with link provided for the firmware. However, is there a link for the KW98? Is this FW supposed to be factory installed? I got my KW98 a little over 3 weeks ago and it’s not on there.

Followed these instructions for the firmware and then installed the rest of the apps (from playstore). All working fine.

Please use SP Tools version SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1712_Win

Use Firmware Upgrade option and flash pre-loader

It will wipe your watch so be prepared.

It is needed for this new platform.

Do not try to flash to another watch - you will brick it !!

Sonia kindly provided this video to help - if in doubt please research this first.

As always - you flash firmware at your own risk!!

Aha, I understand. Thanks. Just so you know, the new version of WiiWatch included on the watch by using the QR code - is supposed to be better than watch Droid. It includes locations and you can chose the apps you want to notify. Most importantly the connection is very stable now. But, if you are happy - that's what matters 👍

Ok, I see. The only reason I have been using watchdroid so far is because it has the option to control the duration of the vibration for notifications. The original wiiwatch app gave me a looong buzz and no sound (I didn’t like that). Will give the new Wiiwatch app a try then and see how it holds.
Thanks

Hopefully someone can get this working on a Zeblaze Thor sometime.

Using on the kw88. Love it. Thanks! Question, if i have it paired to my watch for calls, can i use my phone for calls while paired? Even if i use my phone to make the call and not the watch it will push the the audio through the watch. Do i have to unpair if i dont want that to happen? I want to use the device that i call or answer on automatically. Thanks

I don’t have this problem, if i call from phone its only in phone. But I have more battery drainage with watch calling (50% less deep sleep). And I can’t silience sound of bluetooth call in watch.

Somebody got upgrade KW88 by OTA (kingwear) with this feature?
Thanks

Woops, I figured it out. I had to press the speaker button on the watch during a call to send the audio back to the phone. Well I feel dumb. At least I now know how to send the audio back and fourth lol

Did you use firmware upgrade option or download only in SP Tools?

I would flash again if you are having issues. Use Firmware Upgrade option

No - and there won't be one.

I only got this because I asked the Firmware company to make it for the KW88 - the watch is old and it is unlikely to get this function - so I asked as a favour.
