Hi,
I am (nervously) about to attempt my first firmware upgrade on a recently bought KW99 that is stuck boot-looping.
I have done various research and keep seeing mention of the slightly convoluted VCOM driver installation, often sounds like a prerequisite. However, my Win 10 machine appears to already be seeing my phone, albeit only momentarily, on a “MediaTek PreLoader USB VCOM (Android)” port.
Is this the same thing? Have the latest versions of Win 10 now got a legitimate driver available for download?
Your advice would be very welcome?
Regards
David

You could try loading up the firmware in SP Tools and De-select everything except recovery.
The click download (using the download only option in flash tool) and connect your watch (powered off)
If it flashes this without issue it means you don’t need to install the drivers.
I think I’m starting to understand the process a little better now.
If I did as you suggest and download only the recovery.img, would that need to be from the newest KW99 firmware (KW99_CS1_B_20171111) or would that cause conflict with the rest of the ROM (assuming I hadn’t already flashed it all)? As previously noted, I have a backup of the original/existing recovery.img, but presumably writing that back would have little effect?
