Official Break Fix Support for Kospet Hope

I Received the Kospet Hope $g (3+32Gb) today The wifi MAC address changes with each reboot on this watch (the first 3 sets remain same while the last 3 are randomly changed) so am not able to keep wifi mac filtering activated on my Wifi Router. is it a hardware problem or software

It's a firmware issue. What FW version are you using? It should not be able to change WiFi MAC address

Do you see an ssid in the list of available networks that looks like NVRxxxx?

First thing to try is a factory reset to stock.
In the watch settings is a “reset equipment” option. Go in there and do a reset.

I’m on buid number Hope_B_20181217

already tried factory reset twice
didn’t help

No SSID like NVRxxxx
only my home and local networks

Ok, thanks.
This is very unusual for these watches.
It is a known fact that Android 7 has to have a fixed mac address because otherwise Google sign in does not work.
You are the only person I know of that has this problem :disappointed:
I will see what I can do about this. I have already informed the manufacturer.
If you can order yourself a data cable asap - we can flash the firmware.

Otherwise you will need to return it for exchange. Where did you buy it from?

Your firmware is the most recent and up to date
But it sounds like the NVRAM partition may be corrupted.

from bangood received today only

should I raise a claim in bangood reagrding this

Ok. Thanks.

Your choices are:

a) get the cable and flash the firmware (which should fix it but no garuntee)

b) return the watch to Banggood (if you do this I will contact them with your order number and make sure they understand)

I have ordered the cable but if its not definitely going to work
then I would like to replace the watch as still in DOA warranty
the bangood order number is 59897408

Ok, I’ll contact Kospet and let them know.

Because this is the first time I have seen this issue with the Hope watch I cannot be 100% sure that flashing firmware will fix it.

When I get a reply I will send you a message.

ok thanks

Hold tight. The manufacturer has just told me that this may be the way it is by default....

If this is true then the only way to fix it is to flash a custom recovery, root the watch with Magisk and write the MAC address to the NVRAM.

Let me find out more about this.
I have not noticed this and no one has complained about it either.

I have no mac address security on my router so I may have not noticed it.

ok
But why would they keep it as default,
doesn’t this breaks functionality

will have to wait for the usb cable then

The reason is simple:

To have a MAC address written permanently to the watch in the factory is very expensive.

Using a temporary, firmware - generated address is free.

It allows the watch to function because it has a “usable MAC address” as far as applications are concerned.

As I said - I'm talking to them about this.

It appears I misunderstood them.

Apparently the watch IS SUPPOSED to have a permanent MAC address for WiFi.
This means that a batch of these may have been produced WITHOUT this and it is a production issue.
If this is the case then we will be getting a few more complaints

Anyway - we need you to open a dispute with Banggood and I will support it from my side.
Do you have any video that can show the mac changing on reboot?
You find that the MAC actually changes on every single “connect - disconnect”

I just checked this on my watch and can confirm the bug. After rebooting 2 bytes of the wifi mac changed (c4:56:fe:5a:d2:fb =>c4:56:fe:9E:D4:fb)

The bt mac didn’t change.

This is definitely a software issue which I have seen many times before with devices with a Mediatek chipset.
