No T-Mobile connectivity with The Thor 4 Dual.

Just received my Thor 4 Dual. Removed my working SIM card from my Thor Pro and the Thor Dual is not seeing T-Mobile at all. I’m in the U.S. Anyone have any idea or experienced the same issue?
Thanks
Matt

Have you tried manually entering the APN settings?

I’m not a cell phone expert by any means, but you can’t just pop a SIM card into a new device. It doesn’t work that way. You have to contact your SIM card provider, and go through the process of activating that device on the network with the SIM card. This means your previous device will not be on the network anymore. Only higher tier service plans allow multiple devices on one SIM card. Either way, it needs to be activated.

Hi Soontobe…Thanks for your post. Yes went to tmobile yesterday. Got a new SIM and checked it. They thought the settings were correct. The watch does see the SIM but I have not signal…no bars.
Waiting for Zeblaze to respond.

Hi Capt.
Thanks for answering. How to I do that? I sure hope I can get this fixed. Other than this issue the watch is really nice. A huge step up from the Thor Pro.

Hmmmm… so it gets no signal whatsoever with the SIM card installed. That is odd.  I know that you should be able to see a signal, and it should show signal strength when a SIM card is installed.  If it is not activated, you just will not be able to use the service. This is in the United States, which allows for emergency calls even though no cellular service is being paid for.  Have you tried an AT&T SIM card? They work with the majority, if not all the watches with cellular service.  There might be something else wrong with the watch if it can not at least pick up signal (do not even have to activate) from an AT&T SIM card.

When activating these devices on the celluar network, it is also best to leave the information about the IEMI number all 00000 and let the network auto-configure during initial use of the SIM card, versus typing the IEMI number into the computer, then getting the watch to connect to the network.

Would this tip also work for T-Mobile? I may go into an AT&T to try it there. Thing is my phone line for my watch is free and I would like to avoid spending additional money if I can. What’s weird in the settings it appears the watch know it’s a Tmobile SIM.
THANKS for your help.

Not sure about T-Mobile, but worth a shot. When plugging in your SIM card, when you go to “About Watch” settings, then go to the SIM card settings, is any of the items being populated in the list? It is recognizing it is a T-Mobile service? I still find it odd that you can not see signal strength when the card is put in the watch…

That is not necessarily correct. I use Speed Talk Sim Cards, which run on the T-Mobile network, in my extra devices. I have three cards and interchange them between my five devices at will. Once activated they don’t care where they are located. But you may have to manually put the APN settings into the device if it does not automatically recognize the network. Sometimes I have to do it and sometimes I don’t. May depend more on the device, whether a spare phone or watch.

First you have to obtain the APN settings for the network of the card you are using. I use Speed Talk Sim Cards that run on T-Mobile but the APN numbers Speed Talk provides use their log on information. (I was given the information when I purchased my cards. It is the sme for each card.) It may vary by networks, I can speak for the others. You go to SETTINGS on your watch and then CONNECT. THEN TO CELLULAR NETWORKS. Under Cellular Networks you go to ACCESS POINT NAMES. From there you go down to NEW APN and input the data from your carrier. After you enter the information and save it the New APN you set up will appear in the list of carriers. You select your new APN and it now should use that Newwork to log on.

I have a lemfo Lem8 and my dad a Thor 4 dual, I wanted to switch to the thor dual due to the front-facing cam so we can video chat without me using a mirror, lol. He is on T-mobile and did have an issue but was able to resolve it and is in fact even doing call forwarding with T-moble from his cell so when he runs he does not need to take his phone. I’m on Metro PCS which is also T-Moblie and have no issues on my Lemfo. I am wondering about the difrances of the cortex-a53 vs MTK6739 between the 2. but my dads seams good.

i heard and read that Zeblaze handled better the SIM card issues the IMEI number than Lemfo. The MTK6739 is a Arm cortex-A53 SoC from mediatek

Do both sim slots work on the same bands i.e. I've read that some dual sim devices limit one sim slot to 2g and the other slot will work on 4G LTE. You might try to change the sim slot.

Not sure what you are referring to, "dual sim devices" the dual reference is because it has two camera's.

Sorry, it was late for me. Thanks for teaching;-)

Hi Everyone
Here’s what is happening. Zeblaze finally answered me after the Chinese New Year was over. They instructed me to make a new APN group and copy all the APN settings that are on my phone to the watch. This did not work. Zeblaze then said the IMEI number should be changed. They also that would be difficult for me. They suggested I contact the seller Aliexpress to exchange or refund. Aliexpress now says I am beyond the exchange or refund period. This is after they said to contact Zeblaze while I was still in this warranty period. I also asked Aliexpress several questions which went unanswered. Considering the Chinese New Year closings I have not received any support from Aliexpress. I opened a dispute with them online they asked me to close it before they would assist me. I did close it and they did nothing to help me. So I have not got anywhere. I asked Mr. Ticks via Facebook to see if his watch worked on T-Mobile but have not heard back. The watch has some of T-Mobile frequencies and Zeblaze agrees it should work. Does anyone have this watch working on T-Mobile?
I have purchased three Zeblaze watches since August 2018 from Aliexpress and Banggood. These Chinese sellers have great products but they don’t seem interested in helping when there is a problem. Furthermore, many of the help links on their websites do not work. Sorry for the long post.

Update… Went back to the T-Mobile store. They places a SIM from a completely different device into my watch and it got 4G connectivity! They then determined that the kind of service I have for a watch was an old service associated with my old ZTE Smartwatch which used an embedded SIM. So this proves the trouble is with my carrier and not the watch. So I’m very happy that my watch will be fully functional soon. I’m still not impressed with the lack of support from Zeblaze and Aliexpress, but I’m not surprised at this point. More later.

Happy announcement! I now have 4G connectivity on the Thor 4 Dual using Mint Mobile on a trial basis. T-Mobile does not work at all and T-Mobile support gave up although they tried very hard. So if anyone else is thinking about this watch remember it will not connect on T-Mobile. A side note: battery life is way better on the Dual then it was on the Thor Pro. I’m getting 15 hours or more with light usage.
