LEMFO LEM8 - New model for November 2018.

jdwatch

Just out of curiosity - what will you use TWRP for?

Thanks, the first thing I was going to try to get was root so that I could run an app like “Screen Shift” to set up some custom dpi/overscan settings.  I’ve used Masgisk on other devices where I’m trying to conserve battery with Greenify and modules to sleep Google services.  I guess I could just try to patch the boot.img or whatever you guys have up and running.  Thanks for the links to those forum sections but I didn’t see the thread for the LEM8.  Thanks!

I will have a look at what has been posted by the Openwatch team in our dev section. If twrp is already posted you can pull the boot image from the lem8 firmware in the Lemfo section and patch it using Magisk manager on your phone. It's a lot easier to use Magisk manager to patch boot images on your and then copy it back to your pc. Then flash the boot image and TWRP image. I can confirm that this worked for me.

Does the Lem8 supports multi-touch (pinch and zoom in. Google Maps for instance). I’m not sure this was covered in the reviews? Thanks!

No it doesn't.

None of the watches do as far as I know.

Double tap works fine I think

Hi there, i recently bought LEM8 and the watch is great. Everything works fine except, i can`t connect the watch with my phone. My phone is HTC M8s.
Where could be the problem ? I guess it is in my phone , because the phone is 2015 model

More information would be helpful. I see your phone came with Android 4.4 upgradable to Android 6.0. Your phone is it running 6.0? How are you attempting to connect the watch to your phone?   Which app are you using to connect the two devices?    WiiWatch 2 or one of the other apps like Watch Droid or MD2. WiiWatch2 requires Android 5.0 or higher OS to run.

It’s a tiny screen, so the pinch gesture can be difficult to get right, but it does work in Maps and Chrome.

Interesting - I will ask the manufacturer for confirmation.
Thanks

I just got the Watch. It’s a great upgrade (looks and speed) on my previous early Lem7. I can confirm that the pinch zoom do work with Google Maps (haven’t tried on Chrome yet).

Anyone have a suggestion of a watchface that looks like the ‘Always time’ screen so that there’s a nice transition in between the ‘regular on’ screen and the ‘always time’ one?

Do you guys want me to post a quick video of the Watch?

Glad you like it.
Yes, I got confirmation from the guys today that 2 point touch is supported.
Also on the other new 6739 models.
Unfortunately not the LEMX though :pensive:
A review is always nice. Thanks.
Our samples are about to arrive and Sonia is looking forward to making a video as well.
The more the merrier as far as I am concerned :+1::+1::slightly_smiling_face:

you know with Eric’s launcher you can use different watchface for the always on feature.

I have got my LEM8 for roughly 2 weeks. If I turn on flight mode, the battery last a long time. With wifi OFF and flight mode ON, it can last 4 days with always-on display. The main problem now is that my cellular signal on this watch is very weak. In some areas, my AT&T cell phone shows full signal strength using 4G, and the watch only shows 2 bars with 3G using H2O wireless (which runs on the AT&T network). Does anybody exhibit similar problems or do you have any suggestions?

All I can say there is I’ve got the opposite problem with connectivity - the watch pretty consistently reports 4 bars of signal, all of my normal phones report 2 bars at best.

As far as I’m aware it doesn’t support all of the AT&T bands here in the US - so it’s possible in my case that my phone is connecting on a different band than the watch, and getting different signal strength as a result.

According to the specs, the AT&T signal bands supported are LTE bands 2, 5, and 12 (the lower half of 17).

Test your download speed on cellular
Should be around 50mb down if you are connected to 4G.

13mb or less is 3G.

All depends on the provider… I pulled 6.3Mbit on 4G, dropping to 3G made it go to 1.5Mbit. (Android reports it as being on LTE in radio info - ##4636## in the dialer - not just in the status panel.)

The LTE result is consistent with my phone as well - which hit about 11Mbit, which I’d attribute to a better antenna and better band support in the phone,

Yep that is true.

I have been getting reports of people not being able to use 4G at all in parts of the USA and India and we are looking for the root cause.

Basically bands are correct and everything seems to be fine. But we can see from logs given that the watch is switching to 3G for both calls and data.

So any evidence of this behaviour will be useful.

I am wondering if it is an FCC / IMEI issue… But need to gather more information from anyone who is willing to help.

Especially if you are in the USA.
