I’m sorry, but this is going to be a rant. I need to write this down.
In 2016 I bought my first kw88.
It started failing after the first time I produced some sweat on my wrist.
Shortly after, the power button failed, the white wristband turned yellow, the backplane cracked and finally the battery exploded.
After numerous chats with kingwear, they never helped but just pushed the request I had to the side.
Now 1 1/2 years later I bought a new kw88. I like the design and wanted to give it another chance.
But…
Again after the first sweat, the camera fogged up and soon after the watch started rebooting. No way to power of by using the button.
Opening this kw88 showed again that the back cover doesn’t protect against any moisture. Clear dryed up liquid tracks were visible.
The big surprise was the power button. The surface mounted connector had come completely separated from the cable and was stuck in the opposite connector.
In the end, I was able to repair the old power button from my first kw88, and got the watch working again.
I’ve removed the pogo pins from the old backcover and going to 3d-print a new backcover, that protects against moisture.
What a shame…
And no where to look for replacement parts…
I repaired the new KW88 by placing the old and repaired power button with cable into the watch.
But it worked only for one charge. After the recharge the display went blank. No or sometimes one buzz from the rumble motor when the power button was pressed.
So I believed the PCB had water damage from the sweat…
Changed the old 2015 pcb into the new kw88 and that didn’t work. At least the watch seemed to boot, but display still black.
So that’s were I transferred all back into the old watch and now that one is working again. Stable for now.
I’ve printed a new backplane, to make it more sweat resistant.
So there is a new question:
Is the 2016 display different than the 2015? Did they change something in the displays?
I didn’t test the new pcb in the old watch. I just wasn’t up to it to dis-reassemble the watch again

Hi Kenneth
Are you the same Ken from our Round Android watch face community? If so I remember you very well.
Anyway - I am happy to talk to KingWear about this for you if you want?
I can almost guarantee that the screen is now very different.
I don’t suppose you know what firmware you had on the newer version before all this?
Hello,
my backplate is cracked too. I’m looking to by replacement one but with no success!
I do not receive answer from King Ware.
Pablo 11 can you help with that issue?
