As some of you may have read, some folks are reporting that custom face APKs are no longer working on the KW88 after an OTA. It looks like an OTA with the same date but different kernel & files may have been pushed. Here’s what I need from you guys.

Go to Settings > About then post the following;
Kernel Version date
Build Number date
Do custom faces work

Here is an example of exactly what I need.

Kernel Version date - Sep 22 2016
Build Number date - 20160921
Do custom faces work - No

Any extra chat will slow things down so please keep it to the needed info only.

Thanks guys. I wanted verification on what I though the problem was. So, here the conclusion

1- Pre-20160921 firmware is fine (mostly)

2- 20160921 SPTools flashable is fine

3- 20160921 OTA does not match the 20160921 SPTools firmware.

It looks like this is similar to what happened on the X Series recently where two different firmwares had the exact same date stamp. The how/why is unknown but like I said on the X Series issue, this should never occur.

All this has been passed on to Kingwear in the hope they can get SinSoft to do the right thing.

And there is no other way to put faces to the more modern kernel?

At this time, the only other options are a third party launcher and something like Zooper widget. You end up losing easy/direct access all the features the stock launcher provides.
