It is an option. I use direct download all the time.
However, direct download is a very loose definition. Especially between an Apple device to Android.
If you mean direct from one device to another, then there are many things to consider.
For me, using USB transfer is faster and easierā¦ Just copy and pasteā¦ Done
Is there any way to get pop-up notifications when using Nova Launcher ? I miss being able to glance at my watch when a notification arrives, but with Nova Launcher they are just added to the notification panel, which you have to actively display yourselfā¦
Isnāt watchdroid good for this ?

Yes, watchdroid is perfect for phone companion notifications, but when we move towards having the watch work as standalone device, it will start generating itās own notifications for emails, chats etc, and those are not displayed when using Nova Launcher (but perfectly when using standard or Universal Launcher).

Just curious have you tried Smart Touch Pro. It gives you access to all your preferred apps from any screen, even in power save mode. All you have is the icon on the side of any watchface or screen. This allows you to open an app from any screen, perform the function and then go back to where you were. It also offers features like, lock screen, back, power, screen shot etc. as an option. You donāt have to keep going back to the watchface to perform these functions.

even if you have downloaded your music through the youtube music app so that it can be played when offline, you still have to use the youtube music app to play it. Youtube music isnāt pirate bay, so you wonāt get access to the actual mp3 files.

Hmm, sounds very excitingā¦
I saw it mentioned a couple of times, and considered it. 2 points making me doubt:
- I would have to look at the dot always on any app no matter what I do.
- those overlay apps get access to all we type, donāt they ? Itās potentially a security riskā¦ Or isnāt it ?

You can customize the dot to make it blend in more if you wish. I never view it as a distraction but a friendly reminder that my apps are only a tap away. The only permissions required by Smart Touch is Camera, Microphone and Storage. I find it so much more convenient that I rarely use even the watchfaces with app access, unless I like the watchface. As far as security goes there is nothing I do on my watch that government snoops are interested in. But as they say, āto each his own.ā
Ok, tried it, very nice, got why you like it, and seems it may indeed solve all my needs of combining nice watchfaces, notifications and easier access to apps in one strike, with added button shortcuts 
Did you find a way to get it to show the notification panel ?
And any way to get more apps in the Favourite apps drawer ?

Notifications is one of the available āBase Actions.ā But I believe that function only displays the watches notifications. I donāt think it will display notifications from you phone for example or Watch Droid.
On both round and square watches (My Lem 10) it will only display maximum of 6 functions in Favorite Apps drawer. On my phone it displays 10 so it obviously has to do with screen size.
A friendly reminder to keep this thread specifically kp2 related so that it doesnāt blow up too much for new users. A generic nova or alternative launcher thread could be a win-win for all

I just wanted to relate a rather funny experience I had in my quest for watchfaces that take full advantage of the gorgeous Prime 2 screen :
For the original prime I searched the web for watchfaces and I found hundreds in big zip archives.
I extracted dozens that seemed promising (Good looking but also potentially editable to add features).
Each watchface was a zip file with a folder inside containing xml based stuff.
But there was two types of folder :
One without subfolders
Another with subfolders containing hidden picture files for some of them.
The first type was accepted by UL but editing those watchfaces wasnāt easy, manually editing xml!
I did this for two watchfaces as a proof of concept.
The second type was not usable in UL, zipped or unzipped, I still tried to flatten one simple watchface and unhiding the picturesā¦
It worked but I wonāt do this again!
If youāre still reading this, here is the funny thing I learned thanks to the Prime 2 :
I took a zip watchface with subfolders and hidden pictures and changed its extension from .zip to .watch and the miracle happened :
Tapping the dot watch file brought me into WatchMaker where I could now edit the watchface to take advantage of the prime 2 screen with UL.
I could then add almost 20 nice watchfaces to my editing agenda!
Note that I only use all those watchfaces for my own use on my Prime 2 and my Prime but also on my Ticwatch C2.
WatchMaker is really great for this, use a watchface on Android Wear (And many other systems I donāt useā¦) as well as on Full Android Watches (Thanks to UL).

can you receive and reply to notifications over bluetooth from whatsapp installed on your phone??
aside from inserting a nanosim in kp2,is bluetooth calling supported (dialling or receiving a call over bluetooth using my phone,s sim)?
is there any full tpu cover to protect the kp2?

Whatsapp: You can use the app ātablet messagerā for this.
Bluetooth calling: not possible.

If you use the Watch Droid app for getting notifications from the phone on your watch, then you can reply from the notification pop-up.

but regarding whatsapp installed on the kp2 itself,are all features supported (viewing and sending whatsapp text,images,videos and voice messages)?
one more thing,how do you transfer files between kp2 and pc? usb cable?(is it the same charging cable included).

WhatsApp, yep, itās in fact the very same app as on your phone - the watch is an Android 10 phone in disguise 
. I use WhatsApp on the watch, works perfectly.
There many different choices of transferring files. You may indeed use the cable, or you can send from one WhatsApp app profile on the Phone to an other on the watch (my preferred method) or you can use on of the many WiFi file transfer programs. And Iām sure there are many more methodsā¦

Dont forget if you use whatsapp you need to turn off in battery - data saver or it will not run in the background . Look through these settings -
Settings - apps and notifications - special app access - battery optimization - select app to alter and select āoptimizeā or ādont optimizeā .
Settings - apps and notifications - special app access - unrestricted data ( turn on / off )
