Always looking for ways to maximize the battery life - I’m wondering if anyone has used the ‘Freeze’ App option in the Settings > Optimization > App Freeze ? Since installing the ‘Should I Answer’ app and QKSMS I’ve noticed battery is getting used up faster. I had them already optimized in the ‘Clean Task’ function but anytime the screen is on they will startup and from my experience with the ‘Should I Answer’ it seems very persistent in running all the time.

Since I normally leave off cellular (as this is my backup device for phone use) and I only turn it on for a while in certain situations I think it will be a better choice to completely ‘Freeze’ these two apps and then DeFreeze them when I turn on cellular. In the past I’ve used Rom Toolbox to Freeze apps on rooted phones but it doesn’t work unless the device is rooted. So I’m very glad to see they have included this option to Freeze apps.

Is this Freeze and DeFreeze available in the standard model Prime 2 (not engineering model) under ‘Optimization’?

Not sure how to identify the engineering samples, but mine has the Freeze menu entry in the Optimization app. Doesn’t that depend on the firmware version, rather than the hardware ?

I think you are probably correct. Just wasn’t sure if the engineering samples were unlocked in some way that made it available but as you said most likely just the firmware version makes it available. :+1:

After having the Prime 2 for a week, this is my take on the watch. I modified the clockskin xml file of the clockskin AUDI RS 2.01 to fit the Prime 2 with the correct cls and pkg names and all the interactive buttons now work. I had to side load the contacts as sync doesn’t seem to work for either google contacts or the calendar. I loaded google calendar as the stock calendar is useless except to find out what day it is. I installed the google contacts, so I have one “contacts” for all additional info available in google contacts and the other one that comes up with the phone app with just contacts that have phone numbers. Both now are working ok. Google calendar won’t run. I installed amazon music and it works fine. The watch sound is good. The stock alarm clock sets the alarm for one hour ahead but works. I installed google clock for the other available options and it works fine but also sets the alarm one hour ahead but won’t sound (I still haven’t found that problem yet). Gmail works fine and I get notified when mails come in. Easy to read and respond. Whatsapp works fine but I can’t get it run in the background in order to be consistently notified when messages come in. when I open the app, all the message flood in. I have tried a few possible options including setting the battery optimisation off but nothing seems to work. Messenger runs fine but I have the same problem having it run in the background in order to get real time notifications. Gmail works fine in this respect. Bluetooth still drops constantly when streaming music with the Samsung buds live. I am still trying different configs in the developer options but nothing has worked so far.

These are the interactive buttons that I set up on the AUDI RS 2.01 face and work:
Settings, maps, phone contacts, google contacts, weather, amazon music, google calendar (loads but asks to access calendar and then aborts), battery info, screen brightness, phone calls, outdoor run, heart measuring, camera, google clock, whatsapp, voice recorder. It’s nice to have these shortcuts on the clock screen rather than search for them in the apps list.
In all the watch is good quality but the fact that it is not waterproof is a killer. In fact, if you look behind the rotating camera, there is a big gaping hole where the strip cable comes out and connects to the camera. Any water will surely splash down this opening. I doubt if this watch would last one month in a hot humid climate where going from an air-conditioned space to outdoors would cause fast condensation inside the watch and corrode all the components. But they got one thing right…it is much easier and comfortable to take pictures to the side, perpendicular to your arm rather than down your arm where you easily get part of your hand in the picture. It takes good and better pictures than the lem12 pro. What is really needed is a watch that is at least IP68 waterproof and has a dual camera with one facing up from the watch face and one facing outward on the side of the watch perpendicular to your arm and parallel to the watch band. Maybe the lem14 will have all this including NFC but there are still many firmware and A10 issues to address first. Does anyone know when an OTA update is going to be pushed out?
As a final comment, the watch is huge. It might look good and smart on a 260 pound football player but for us mere mortals, it looks unsightly big and a bit ridiculous……
Cheers

They all have this.
Unless you are using a very old version.
This is where the background cleaner task killer is. App freeze and run at full clock speed for CPU.

Thanks for your observations.
Software update will be on the way fairly soon.
Yes, it is a big watch and that’s why I said what said in the very first post of this thread.
When the update is available, you will all know :+1:

the kronosblade genesis has a camera setup exactly like that, not IP68 though, but at least it doesn’t have a big gaping hole as you say the prime 2 have. I guess it’s not sold anymore either, but yeah

I think he has a defective watch.
I missed the bit about a gaping hole…
But this is how it actually is and it sounds a bit strange that there is a “gaping” hole…

The following still is from a Japanese YouTube video review of the Prime 2.

Can water/condensation enter into the watch via the 2 holes where the light is shining through?

Is the Prime 2 still considered “splash proof”?

Have you noticed the huge slot on the rear cover?
Seriously, it is clearly advertised as not waterproof. Pretty much the same as your regular mobile phone.
I have got mine wet from splashing and had no issues, but this watch is sold up front with no rating for waterproofing and yet still the questions come…

Really people… Stop it please.
Sold as stated
Nothing more to say is there?

Unless you prefer them to make stuff up and tell you it is 5ATM waterproof of course…

I’m only asking because my original understanding is that the watch is “splash proof”. As stated here:

If there are 2 holes, that means light rain or even condensation could create problems.

Splash proof is correct.
I have splashed it without issue.
For water to gain entry into the watch in the places indicated - would take a bit more than a “splash”
So then begins the argument of what constitutes a splash.

So in this case - for the sake of my sanity - I’m just going to stick to the manufacturer description “Waterproof - NO”

I will edit my original post

All done.
Hopefully this whole thing can be understood now…

Use ADB AppControl, you can disable most apps even without root - freezing is basically disabling it.
If you want to use command line, you can: adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 <package_to_disable>
Addition: you can enable a disabled app like this: adb shell pm enable <package_to_enable>
You can list all disabled apps like this: adb shell pm list packages -d

Actually, I have found we can VIEW our Google calendar for some strange reason.
If you add the Google Calendar ‘calender’ widget, it will actually show your appointments :ok_hand:
It doesn’t work for the upcoming events view, that says it can’t synchronize.
We can’t edit or add anything, but at least we can see our appointments, created on other devices :ok_hand:

Hi guys. So today I got my Prime 2 and to fall in line with other statements, the size was a bit shocking actually have it before my own eyes. Whew! Can tell you now that I’m sure I’ll have a ton of questions and need help but the first couple are: other than the watch face, does the camera and bottom sensor come with the plastic covering? I know somewhere in the vast Support chain lies the answer but there’s more than 700 entries. I’ve looked at both but can’t tell and I’m not about to do exploratory surgery to find out. If not, this is what my sensor face looks like out of the box. Also, it’s an iOS question. My phone contacts won’t sync. Says it’s not the correct format. Didn’t have a problem with my previous Lokmat smartwatch. Everything I can find on both sides indicates it should work.
