Kospet Prime 2 Official support UPDATED!

If you are worried about it then install Device Info on the watch and run it

Also, there are many settings that contribute to clarity of an image, it’s not just MPs. The lighting (ISO), File compression, Sensor and lens. I’m sure as more Kospet updates are released the camera settings will improve and take a 13MP image. I hope!

I’m not worried about it. I didn’t purchase the watch for the camera. It’s a bonus to see how well the camera functions. Thank you Pablo11!

Thanks very much for your detailed information.
We are looking into this but Google’s CTS rules about camera and screen size are extremely challenging.
But let’s see what happens :+1:

Hey @jackt…
Which firmware are you using?
In V1.4 the Google limit of 8mp has a software override to reach almost 13mp.
Even though the limit imposed by Google is 8mp, the images should be almost 13mp.

The firmware reads 1.4_20201031

The watch updated 3 days ago.

Yes ok,
Thanks very much

You might have missed what I posted previously on the images I took with a couple alternate camera apps. They were 12.58 megapixel - so basically 13 MP. If you add the app Camera HD or Best Camera app you can achieve 4096 x 3072 which is essentially 13MP or at least that is what the cameras say I have set in the cam settings and also what my program on my computer states the image size is when I check the image information properties. Also the file sizes are quite a bit bigger than the ones from the stock 8 MP camera app. I’m on the v1.4 update.

Yes, that’s why I mentioned that to jackt.
You are correct

Since we’re talking about cameras, this comment came in over on SWT under the Prime 2 video and after replying I thought I’s share it with you guys here as well:

Q. can you forcefully rotate the camera up more so that it is facing you more? (like 45 degree along the horizontal level)

A. Nope, it pivots around one axis and stops when the bottom of the camera hits the top of the round watch bezel. It would work a whole lot better for not having to twist your arm so hard if it just went another 20 degrees or so, but that would mean moving the rotation point out about 5mm further from the body, and then the camera would be having out there too far. Another thing they could have done is recess the bezel at the very top so the camera wasn’t stopped by the bezel edge. That may have added a few degrees of rotation, and that may have made a huge difference. This is a common problem for all front facing cameras. We don’t usually twist our arms so far to get our own face properly aligned in the screen for extended time. It’s just a fact. Someday, after the novelty wears off, these companies will actually align the front view of the camera about 10 to 20 degrees down from straight out forward, but that day isn’t here yet.

Can’t please everyone all the time.
Stuff like this takes time.

Having been inside some of these tiny monsters the rotation limit might be related to how far the connection between the main board and camera can flex without damage over time.

It’s simple really.
It’s not designed to do this so don’t do it unless you want to break the device.
End of story

I wonder why kospet didn’t make the camera in landscape mode,
portrait mode is very annoying indeed.

probably because portrait mode is what’s usual on phones. you can crop it to landscape mode yourself and you will still get a 7 MP picture

As @noidremained says, it’s an Android limitation.

Yes, production was started again and stock will be going to outlets on Thursday and Friday this week.

By the way, more conspiracy theories are floating around about the speaker vent and issues with sweat getting inside the watch.

Yes, there is a speaker vent but it is sealed inside so damage from sweat should hopefully not be a problem.

@kiki_kiki. I place my order early on the 26th and received it 2 days ago. I see they are up to 297 orders now so I would assume they sold more than the had planned or more than Kospet can keep up with demand but they will catch up. Since you ordered on the 26th you were in the first 100 I would guess so it’ll get there soon enough.

So far my biggest concern on the Prime 2 is how fast the battery drains even when not in use and everything turned off. I’m seeing 8-10% loss overnight in both of the Prime 2’s i have. The Prime 1 would stay at 100% overnight. I turn everything off like cellular, bluetooth, Wifi, GPS and so on and do a clean function and close all apps. I’ve got other octacore phones with 4gb / 64gb which don’t lose anything or just 1% at most overnight.

If you turn on the ‘Battery Saver’ it seems you get no functionality at all - just a watch with time in black and white. I do have battery manager turned on. But it is somewhat difficult to get out of ‘Battery Saver’ mode with no instructions on how to do so. The only thing that shows up in Battery saver mode beside the time is a settings icon which takes you to a screen about ‘flight mode’ being on by default. You have to hold down the power button and you will find your way to a screen with the only option to ‘Turn On now’ button which is already on instead of a ‘turn off’ button being present. You will need to turn off the ‘turn off when charged to 90%’ button to get it back off - I think that could be improved some in the less than logical current options.

But more important would be improving battery life unless this is being caused by the ‘engineering samples’ that have somewhat worn out batteries.
