Is your X5+ / LEM5 really AMOLED / OLED? Or, is it LCD?

Because of generally-not-so-good battery life of my newly purchased LEM5, I asked myself a question: “Is the display really a supposed-to-be energy-efficient OLED?”

So, I followed instructions on this website:
smartphones.gadgethacks.com/how-to/find-out-whether-your-phone-has-lcd-amoled-display-why-matters-0171949/

Downloading a completely black image from the site above, display the image full screen (I used QuickPic) with full brightness, and went to a dark room.
To my disappointment, I see a faint but clear green-yellowish light coming out of the screen. If it’s OLED display, it should be complete blackness with no light at all.
The light looks the strongest at the top edge of the screen, but covers about 2/3 of the screen on the right side.
When the screen times out, the light completely disappears, so I am pretty sure the light is coming from the display itself.

Does you X5+/LEM5 have an OLED display?
Does my LEM5 somehow got a wrong type of display?

My X5+ definately has OLED.

the x5+ and the lem5 have different displays the x5+ has better display than the lem5.

I don’t care so much about quality, though.
Question is; is it OLED, or is it LCD?
Main concern is battery consumption.

LEM5 OLED here
I’ve read somewhere thet you dont know which one you gonna get when the package arrives
Even the brochure on their official page says “IPS OLED” display…

Yeah, LEM5 “officially” has an “IPS OLED” display… according to the manufacturer and any other sources.
(Although I can’t find any info about what “IPS OLED” is. IPS (in-plane switch) describes how liquid crystal particles are organized and re-oriented upon applying electric charges in LCD. Obviously, there is no such thing in OLED, unless IPS represents something completely different in this context. But, that’s another story.)

It is just puzzling as to why a faint light comes out with a completely black image covering the entire display, if it’s an OLED.
I did the same test on Xperia Z3 compact (it’s an LCD), and I could see the entire display GLOW with the backlight.
The light on LEM5 is significantly weaker. You won’t find it unless you are looking for it. So, I can believe it if someone says LEM5 has an OLED, not an LCD.

But, I still wonder what is emitting that faint light if it’s not the backlight, and if there is another way of confirming what type of display is on LEM5…

I have the Lem5 and it has OLED. If you notice, some of the watch faces that appear black are actually not, which will show some light from your screen… Try a different black image, it may be your image that is the problem and not the display.
