Hi, I’m wondering why most full‑Android smartwatches seem capped at Android 10, with very few models moving to Android 11+.
I’m also curious why big brands like Kospet, Zeblaze, and LEMFO have released no new standalone models lately and seem to provide so few firmware/OTA updates.
I Think , as there are no essential Future things, it is quite difficult for those watches. No new Android Version, no Banking/nfc function, small other Development,…..
Poor Outlook…….
I have an apple Watch since a few months, because I have an iPhone for a Long time. After several Full Android watches like
Neptune pine, Zeblaze, Lemfo,….. it was always the same : poor hardware quality, old android, …..
Ok, my Apple Watch is Not Independent as my Android Watches, but everything else ( ok not the watchfaces , I have done a lot of them and cannot use them in my Apple Watch ) is more than I got with my android ones.
If there is no further Development for The FAWs it would be difficult for their future existence.
If you are into the Apple ecosystem then Apple watch fits in very well and it’s a very legitimate and logical choice. A FAW has a high standard to live up to in this case, it certainly cannot be as integrated.
There are a few A13 watches, now I only need some more RAM, I’d pay premium for that, but my use case is unique.
There will be. The last one had fake specs but even the real specs were 3gb ram and 32gb of storage.
The S13 has its problems, but it’s Android 13 and demonstrates how far the hardware and Android versions have improved. Keep an eye out for more good devices in the near future
Is there any watch having an Android 13 firmware(or higher)? i mean a reliable smart watch that can be flashed with a rom having Android 13(or higher). Excluding the buggy S13 / Vwar Core 5.
Not really. At fault are not necessarily the manufacturers, but rather the developers.
An Android smartwatch is an admirable piece of hardware, but also dangerous and comprimising. As Google stands with it constantly progressive violation of privacy, few people would like to be carrying a device with a microphone, one or two cameras, a lie detector/emotion measurer (pulse meter).
The opensource developers have made significant efforts in providing the general public with Custom Degoogled ROMs for smartphones, but they have simply forgotten the smartwatch realm. This surprises me, because if there are thousands, if not tens of thousands, of different smartphone models, and the great majority have found CDRs, smartwatches are in the magnitude of dozens.
People think of smartwatches mostly as fitness devices, and the geeks have never thought of using these devices as small but capable computers, which coupled via Bluetooth with a foldable keyboard, could screen-mirror to any Miracast TV, monitor or projector, be the future of computing, really…
it is safe to say future of full android watch is bright, because increasingly some places do not allow to bring smart phone, most school already did, so this is the only thing they can use, no matter how bad it is one would need to buy it, and they get money to improve it
The question is why are smart watches taking so long to catch up, when I was a child I had smart watches, I was thinking , buy now they would be more advance, but they are not, Im just finding a good watch to fly my drones, I do battery replacement for a watch dealer, I have plenty watches, but just got my first real SMART watch, Im (excited) thanks for having me, have yourselves all a wonderful day.
Ah, fond memories of the good old days and very, very early (usable) Android watches @AILIFE
My K8 is still working fine today. 512mb RAM = no problem at all if the firmware + software is good
Basically, this K8 is the watch that really started my passion for these solutions, and also got me into the people in China. It was Finow at that time. Then KingWear and IQI etc… Finally ended up with Wiite back in 2017 and ended up spending time with them and kingwear in Shenzhen.
Personally, it reminds me of something that school kids would like to do. So that exams can be easy. But not just that, it makes no sense technically either.
