I overcame the quartz 2nd hand movement limitation of the plain background.

I overcame the quartz 2nd hand movement limitation of the plain background. Here is an example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3722869&d=1460986195
The 2nd hand uses the same digital seconds array (type 9) as my previous example, but instead of a rotating mask I use the 10’s digit of the digital seconds array. This exposes a different segment of the background every 10 seconds, but it’s not rotating, so you can have any picture you like there.

Great idea… I pondered this one for a while and decided I could live with the sweep, but only because I was seeing 60 image arrays in my sleep! Simple and very effective…

Thanks for this Andrew, it helped me to figure out the falling blossom

No worries. I’m working on a Chinese style digital version. It’s easier when you don’t have to worry about a 2nd hand.

Hey Andrew, you got a link to your original ticking second design? Did you ever post it over here? Turns out I’ve got a bad link on my video where I featured it, and I can’t for the life of me find the original post over on XDA. I’ve got folks asking for it on the YouTube channel. Can you repost it over here sometime in a fresh post so I can link directly to the post? Thanks.

Hmm, I don’t know where the post was, but here’s the link to the file https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BysDzZ6Uvo9nQ3BDdGJ2TlpSX0k

That’s the link! Thanks! I want to keep my homages up-to-date over on YouTube.
