I don’t usually do this, but I have a birthday request. I would really love a Nixie style watch for my W1. I like the idea of having a realistic battery with a charge line on it like the second pic, bit I like the wood grain and darker bulb style of the first pic. I leave it to the designer to add any embellishments they want. I also wouldn’t mind a steampunky tarnished metal look with other moving parts. I know it’s a bit to ask for so I’m not expecting it to be done today. As long as it looks cool, I can wait.
@Nicholas_Herczeg I believe if you use the search option then there is a watch face done already that is like the pic above. Regards Stuart
@Stuart_Proctor this is one of my favourite by @G1NT0N1C
@Cerebral_Flex …but I won’t add a battery indicator…
@G1NT0N1C Doesn’t need one! Just replace the CR2 battery when your watch dies : )
@Cerebral_Flex Do you allready find the hidden date?
@G1NT0N1C I did! Had to dust off the old magnifying glass though!
@Cerebral_Flex same here mate I use it on my watch that @G1NT0N1C is a artist when it come to these and so our all the makers on here keep up the good work guys
@G1NT0N1C , Awesome design. I was just looking for something a little more steampunk or victorian, with wood or tarnished bronze. The circuit board look kinda diminshes the feel. A little battery indicator or something would be nice. I am also looking for a 4-6 bulb Nixie design. Take the time you need. I’m in no rush. Also, not singling you out, @G1NT0N1C . This request is open to anyone who wants to try.
@Nicholas_Herczeg i won’t do it.
Which software is the best by using a Windows PC ?
@G1NT0N1C .I understand. It was not my intention to offend. I just thought that it kinda felt like I was criticising your work. Again, that was not my intention. I rather enjoy your work. You are very skilled and I’ve downloaded several of your faces, including the 2 you made from my requests. I was just saying that I have an idea of what I would like and was putting it out there for anyone willing to try.
If no one wants to do it, I will just have to wait until I am able to obtain the skills myself. I just really enjoy the steampunk sub-genre of goth. I have learned that it never hurts to ask, although never expect anything. If someone can fulfill my request, awesome. If not, well, they were never obligated to. It was only a request. All I can do is ask politely and see what happens.
@Nicholas_Herczeg i’m not being offended.
But the only person that is able to build exact the face that you imagine- is you. And the greatest gift you can make to yourself is start learning doing this. You might spend less time in requests like this and more time in learning how do. If you are not glad with the result: start again and make it better. If there are things that you don’t understand: look how other artists solved this problem. That’s all.
@G1NT0N1C Then would it be fair to ask for another request, instead? I would like to learn from you, @Cerebral_Flex and whoever else is willing to teach, how to improve my skills. I realized that you were right. The radioactive watch was too ambitious for my skill level. I’m not giving up on it, just putting it on hold for now. I am currently getting used to making simple analog faces, some with bezels. I want to learn next how to do complications and arrays for battery, heart rate & weather. Would y’all be able to help?
@Nicholas_Herczeg Did you see the video that Marco posted up? He pretty much show cases everything that WFD can do. It’s a great video. I can honestly say I had never touched photo shop before I found this community. I learned purely on a “one problem - one Google” method. So things like “photo shop how to create an outer glow” or “how to select all non transparent pixels”. You eventually build up your knowledge and get better at it. Just takes time.
@Nicholas_Herczeg the video is great. It’s here and on our YouTube channel. Really easy to follow
@Nicholas_Herczeg I’ll try, but it might take a while
@Jorge_Gonzalez Cool. Take as much time as you need. @Cerebral_Flex & @Pablo_Eleven_Pablo11 , I have seen the 3 videos he’s put out so far. They just go so fast (2x), and there is little to no explanation on what he’s doing in the moment and why. You kinda just gotta buckle in and hope you can keep up.
And I’ve found almost nothing on CFM, apart from how to install it. Apart from Marco’s videos, most watch face designer videos are for Wear OS, which doesn’t help in an Android forum. Until I get the skills, id rather not have to learn to design for 2 OSs at once.
