Hi there, my Finow X5 had very poor battery life today - I got

Hi there, my Finow X5 had very poor battery life today - I got less than 8 hours before it died. I had WiFi on for about 15 minutes before I went to work, then turned power saving mode on. So in less than 8 hours, with no radio equipment running, and no playing with apps apart from changing the watch face to show my workmates some simple custom ones I made, the watch has drained the battery completely from 100% to zero. The top 5 drainers reported are Android System (69%), Equipment radio frequency (11%), Equipment idle (10%), launcher (9%), and screen (2%). That is pretty unacceptable, and almost makes me wish to return the device - but before I do that what steps can I take to improve that? Has anyone tried running ART instead of Dalvik mode? I’ve also heard the pedometer is a battery gobbler (that will anger me because it is mostly because the watch has a heartrate monitor and pedometer that I wanted to buy it). It concerns me that 15 minutes of WiFi sitting less than 3 metres from a high end N router would drain 11% of battery, but then when WiFi was turned off the watch should not have drained the remaining 89% over less than 8 hours with minimal use! Is there much that I can do to improve the battery life? I would have thought 4 days and 3 nights would be ample to establish an efficient charging cycle for the battery. When I plug it in now it has charged from 0% to 71% in less than 30 minutes! That is not possible, because its only a 500mA USB cable plugged into my PC via USB2…

Try to change the clock Skin…I usually get 2 days on the Green one with round dials with black background which include Bat. Steps as well.
This is very common in all watches regardless of their brand, OS, being native or Android wear…more complications more battery drain as a general Rule.
give it a try.

I’m not sure that is it @Khalid_Naji , as the watch was not displaying very much at all today - screen only accounted for 2% of battery consumed if the statistics are correct. I would have only displayed the screen for 10 minutes today, tops. The custom clock skins I’ve made are mostly very simple - a background (mostly darker colours), and hour/minute/second hands - no arrays or any other info yet.

Hi Chris Wilkinson - Try my suggestion in the middle (Post 14) of this thread, it might help.

I’ve seen similar issues on my No. 1 D5, @Chris_Wilkinson . Many times, I would flash the latest firmware to solve it…only to have it return again. The issue seems to be caused by certain apps that don’t allow the watch to go into Deep Sleep. You can see this if you install the “CPU Reborn” app from the app store. If the Deep Sleep mode isn’t the largest percentage, there is an issue with an app (or apps).

To find the app (or apps) that is causing the issue, install the “Wakelock Detector” app and look for the apps that are triggering CPU Wakelocks and Wakelock Triggers. Uninstall that app (or apps) and see if the watch goes into Deep Sleep when the display is off for a period.

I have my watch rooted, so I’m not sure if the “Wakelock Detector” app requires it, but it certainly makes use of it.

I seem to have had some success - I swapped charger overnight, using a 700mA charger instead of the 500mA one I had been using - the watch has been unplugged for 2 hours now and is still at 98% despite some WiFi use. I’ll track progress for a few days and report back…

OK, 15 hours on battery and still at 61% - if you suffer poor battery life on your watch, and are using a charger with the minimum USB1/2 standard of 500mA max current, try finding a charger that does 750 or 1000mA max - it may make a difference.

How to connect my watch with phone

Hello, someone would know where I can buy the battery for my X5 Smartwatch, please ?, my watch does not charge, when I connect it the charging image appears, but nothing is charged at all

@Chris_Wilkinson Hi chris if you still use your watch can you tell how oftenly you use sim or cellular network in your watch , i want to know how much will be the battery life if i only use for notification from phone only bluetooth tethering mode and for watch faces and health readings. ( And some bluetooth calls which is possible now days.)
I am planning to buy finow x5 Air.

@Manish_Dewan I still wear it, but use it only as a watch because I have some nice custom watch faces I made for it. Other than telling me the time and date, and number of steps I’ve taken, I find it almost completely useless at doing the things I wanted it to do, namely heart rate monitoring (it does not do this in the background) and sync to my Android phone - BT just doesn’t seem to work reliably for me. In addition there are simple things missing, such as a stopwatch function - what digital style watch doesn’t have an easy to access stopwatch? The Android implementation on these watches is almost useless, and while the watch itself is a relatively attractive device with reasonable spec hardware, software lets it down hugely. Unless Finow have done something amazing with X5 Air I wouldn’t recommend buying it - save your money for a proper Android Wear watch, but to be honest even those I find disappointing.

@Chris_Wilkinson Thanks chris yes android wear is an option Recently launched ticwatch pro is good in case of battery but comparing its price with specs its also lame.
Btw yes finow x5 air have little higher specs than x5 in which what i thought i can shutdown cpu to increase battery with 3C cpu manager these watches doesnot need high frequency cpu. And for continous monitoring of heart rate you can use tasker app and set a condition or task. Also as you mentioned above charging with higher amp charger also increases battery life.

Actually i just need a watch for cool watch faces and for notifications.
I need to know How long on a single charge i can use this watch in that condition???
Or else i have to go with android wear like ticwatch pro. What do you recommend?

@Manish_Dewan since I don’t have WiFi or mobile network turned on I can get a few days from mine. As soon as I turn on WiFi that drops to 1 maybe 2 days at most, depending on how much time the screen is turned on and which watch face I use - some watch faces gobble battery. I tried to find a 3rd party heart rate app but none I tried worked on the watch - the inbuilt app will fail to read your pulse if you make one small movement during the capture - if you find a heart rate app that will work while you’re moving around and let you control it with tasker, then you’ll have done better than I have. Android wear will be a better option, but to be honest I like Android Wear watch functionality only a bit more than these mostly useless modified Android Watches.
