I’ve discovered my Zeblaze Blitz is dead. It’s not responding to being plugged in for power from its cradle, nor when using the cradle to connect to my PC. I’ve had it for about a month, and it worked fine when it first arrived.
I’ve tried different USB cables to rule out a defective (original) cable. I’ve also tried plugging it into different PCs with different operating systems.
I also read a post here from another user whose Blitz also died, and the instructions he got from Zeblaze to update the firmware. I downloaded those files and followed the instructions but the update isn’t working - I pretty sure it’s because the PC doesn’t recognize the watch when plugged in.
Could I just have a defective cradle? Unfortunately the design of this watch doesn’t let me try chargers from other watches that also use pins, because of the unique design of its cradle and how the watch snaps into place.
The cradle pins appear fine, none are stuck in the downward position. I also cleaned the contacts on the watch back plate.
I sent an email to Zeblaze support about this problem. Thanks for any ideas you pass along.
EDIT: I forgot to mention I also opened up the back and disconnected the battery for a few minutes. After closing everything back up it still doesn’t respond.
@Andrew_Davis Hi Andrew - both. The watch won’t charge when in its charge dock and plugged in to an electric outlet using a USB > 2 prong converter plug. I tried different USB cables to rule out the original cable being the problem. And when in its charge dock and plugging into a USB port on my PC, it isn’t recognized. I’ve tried this on Windows 10 and Linux Cinnamon, also with multiple USB cables.
I have the same problem. I have to move the USB cable and the cradle until they make contact, then I have to check several times that the contact is not lost.
@Fabio hi Fabio - I tried to scrape the metal with a knife just in case. The watch did not get much use since I received it. The contacts are golden color both on the watch and in the charge dock. But I tried to clean them anyway (I also cleaned them before with rubbing alcohol) but it makes no difference. Thanks for your reply.
if you tried to clean and still no connection that mean you have to update the FW, you need to use a pc with windows 7\8 and see what happen all you need is that the sp tools will recognize the watch so you be able to update it.
@sonia_sophie_ataunna hmm I thought the SP tool installed the necessary drivers itself? Well I’ll check on whether i need additional drivers installed, thanks. And agree on win 7 being better, I’ve flashed a lot of custom Roms to Android tablets and win 7 never fails.
@Riccardo_Brognara unfortunately I’ve updated all my pcs to the latest version (win10). Follow Loki’s great guide on the site make sure the drivers are installed
@sonia_sophie_ataunnasigh do you have a link to the guide? I’ve been searching and can’t find it. I see the Community has been changed and we have a discussion board now. I’m looking & looking and can’t find it!
Hi Sonia - I’ve searched the proboards site and can’t find Loki’s guide for drivers. I’ve searched all posts using search terms ‘Loki+guide’. Also I watched Mr. Ticks videos on flashing watches and he has a broken link to where Loki stored his files on Google drive - meaning Loki isn’t storing files at that location any longer. Another person watching the videos pointed this out to Mr. Ticks a few days ago, and Mr. Ticks is looking to fix the broken link. I also did a Google search using ‘Loki+guide’ and can’t find anything.
GearBest won’t accept return of the watch because I opened the back. My only option now is to work with Zeblaze support. They are offering to send me a new battery if I pay postage, and I will do that. I have tried every way possible over this last week to load Win 7, Win 10, and Linux drivers on to my various PCs - drivers from Mediatek, drivers from various websites, etc. - and nothing works. The watch is dead, will not charge even after being plugged in for days at a time. It will not be recognized by the SP Flash tool. So I’m giving that up and hoping a new battery will fix my issue.
