What happened to Kospet and Lemfo on the SIM card? Are they no longer on offer?
I know this is an old post now, but thought I’d answer the question in case anyone missed my last explanation.
Kospet is still very much alive and well and has grown as a company in a significant way. But, they were taking losses from producing Android watches as the market went in a different direction. They are focussing on designing and building BLE devices (low power Bluetooth watches) like their “Tank” series etc… This requires less financing up front and less risk of financial loss. I must admit, their products are quite good and very reasonably priced. These days they are a bulk supplier for other e-commerce brands and I’m pretty sure that they don’t sell directly to the end user any more.
Lemfo is an e-commerce brand, full stop. They order devices in bulk and then retail to end users directly. They are also focused on the BLE devices though. Android watches are seen as a risk due to the high financial outlay up front and the higher prices of materials and manufacturing in general. So, we don’t hear from them much at all these days.
It is a sad truth that devices that are not quite ready for the public get sold to end users. This has a serious impact on the reputation of Android watches and the market is very temperamental - mostly because of this, but also due to the factories trying to make more profit by using questionable quality components and in some cases offering no way to get refunds for the brands who are selling their products.
Due to the nature of how business is conducted, brands will also do anything to sell their products in order to recover their investment. Including blatantly lying about specifications, forcing solution providers to include ridiculous apps that can’t be removed, and locking down the firmware so tightly so they don’t have to replace devices that an end user may have accidentally bricked.
All in all, this is why the situation got to be as bad as it was. The positive take away from this though, is that a few new companies have emerged (most are previous mobile phone companies that went down after Google and other American businesses were ordered to stop cooperation with them, amongst other things) and they seem to have a slightly different business model. There are also many new brands. It’s fair to say that the future of the Android watch is not bad. Returning problematic devices has never been easier, thanks to the newer, slightly different business model. This gives some confidence to end users.
I will reach out to Maria at Lemfo (if she’s still there after having her baby) and see what they are doing now. I’ll let you know how that goes. I suspect it’s very different from 9 years ago when I was last over there. I have to admit that I miss the days of when KingWear, IQI, Kospet and Lemfo were at the top of the Android watch market.
Let’s see what happens ![]()

They were happy days mate ![]()
If I understand correctly, the production of watches with full Android or with A10 is coming to an end. Does this mean that our work on the topic of watch faces is becoming unnecessary?
No, that’s a misunderstanding. The faces will work on any Android watch. Even if they are made by different companies. The universal launchers have made this possible.
There are new models coming out soon with an MTK soc, made by the same people who made the Optimus 2, LEM16 and most of the models we support “officially”
So have faith ![]()
universal launcher will end support for .zip watch face in next next version(next one will be the last based on legacy code)
Ok, fair enough. Will clockskin format still be supported as long as they are not zipped?
I must admit that I never leave mine in .zip form. Always extract before I move to the watch.
will not support clockskin format any more
i always prefer them in zipped compare to lose folder ofcourse because it is more manageable
if you have the full documentation of the format definition i can add a converter in WFtools to convert clockskin into watchmaker old format
WFtools is back alive and good ! all 150000 watch face still can download (but i think not for much longer…)
i am still thinking which format to use, WFF? watchmaker old?HSC .zip with json?.face facer format?
but definately not using clockskin it is just the worst, magic number is the worst thing you do in programming, HSC may be good for beginer and the converter from HSC to watchmaker is already available
for now i am leaning toward to only support watchmaker as it is the most powerful format, anything else can be converted into it in WFtools in the future
