Charging of X5+ is unreliable by design

Since i noticed several times, that my X5+ is not showing 100% but 96% or similar when charging over night (powered on), i measured the power consumption of the charger.
You can see in the diagram, it is luck wether you disconnect your watch in a full- or “re”-charging state.
Bad engineering again…

Timeline:
22:15 - 01:51 Watch charging (starting at 30% charge)
03:05 - 03:56 charging
04:33 - 07:05 charging
07:05 Watch is showing 98% before disconnecting from charger

This charging implementation is crap for a device, that is expected to be at 100% when disconnected from the charger after sufficient charging time.
Especially on a smartwatch every % of charge counts to get one day of LIGHT usage.
By the way… voltage stress on the Lipo is absolutely irrelevant for this NON 24/7 usecase.

I will make another measurement charging the watch powered off and post it tomorrow.

My fears have been confirmed. It does not matter wether you charge the watch powered on or off. In any way it is pure luck if you disconnect it when charged at 100% or not - damn! Why don't they simply power the watch from the charger when the battery is fully charged (state of the art) or at least keep the cell-voltage at constant 4.20V?

This is what the power consumption looks like when the watch is charged over night powered off (starting at 50% charge left):

You have to check Your charger. I have silimar situation when try to charge watch from “intelligent” PowerBank. PowerBank controller has circuit, that cuts off charging, when detects low power usage/charge. When battery is close to full, charging current is very low, and then powerbank controller is shutting down charging. Maybe it is silimar case.

no, the 5V USB power supply is definately delivering constant 5V.

I had a problem charging my K8 Mini, it became very difficult to get the watch to recognize a charger. Turned out that the USB cable was not working properly. Subbed in a spare cable, no problem charging or connecting.
Lesson learned: Check the USB power adapter and the USB cable when faced with this type of problem.

true, with the s99a (crapy watch) when it reaches the 99% it takes a very long time to reach the 100% i give up and just disconnect it and battery life is horrible even in airplane mode but on the other hand the x3+ is great does'nt take long to charge to 100% and battery life is great. have you checked connectors?

I have noticed on the Lemfo 5 the same issue…When turned on and charging it will sometimes only charge to 95%…
If I shutdown and restart charging, it will go to 100%

Well, the problem is not, that the watch does not charge to 100% - it does - but afterwards it disables the charger and drains battery until the charger jumps in again at a certain threshold.
