hello guys, i have recently purchase an unsupported A8.1 DW99 watch…basically looks like a copy apple ultra watch…i think the same sort of watch has been shown in this thread on a previous date…its just a little back up watch for me…i have inserted my sim and it allows me to send and receive messages over my network provider with 4G but for some reason i cant make calls,it looks like the call is going through but then just says network busy…it shows i have reception in notification bar but cant make or receive calls …any idea what this could be??? @pablo11 @G1NT0N1C @Dr_Andy_Vishnu
Could be lots of reasons. I know in the UK if i dont reboot watch after sim inserted it never works
Yep, there is a post about this already-but:
Bottom line is that you can use 4G LTE for data and have no issues at all.
Whatsapp and FB calls are no problem, for example.
But, when it comes to a SIM card carrier allowing 4G VoLTE functionality on THEIR network, they need certifications that are just not possible for our devices, at the moment.
There is some research happening about this at the moment, but we don’t have any suggestions yet…
Hopefully very soon though.
Cheers
ok thanks, will try
yes that seems to be what im seeing, messages work ,data works ,but no calls and after speaking to my network provider they basically said the same as you, they are looking into it in the future
tried researching engineering mode and all that comes up is silly codes to type in that do not work, cant see anything on this forum how to get in engineering mode on A8.1 either
yeah , just found an app that get you to engineer mode and that lets you choose LTE only, and still no joy still wont make calls…so i think that is that…the whole point of having a full android watch is so we dont need our phones to make calls…so if thats the case we cant make calls full Android watches are pointless in my opinion… i am understanding this right? since 3g has become obsolete we cant make voice calls on our full android smartwatches now? @pablo11
That’s right. 3G is being switched off in more and more countries and 4G only works for data on these watches, not for telephony. 5G is not a realistic option at the moment. The heat development is simply too high.
ok thanks for the reply @G1NT0N1C
Unfortunately, volte (for voice calls) is strictly controlled by certification for the cellular provider.
Just FYI, volte is working fine in China and so the OEMs have just begun to realise that it needs certification almost every other country
Sadly, this just not possible to achieve for the Chinese Android watches at the moment.
No matter what Android version is used.
However, we are still actively looking for a solution because it is such a significant problem.
We have solutions for Quallcom chiosets, but MTK and Unisoc are far more difficult.
Due to the lack of these brands currently working on international volte in the market (mobile phones etc)
As soon as, or if, we get more information - we will obviously share it.
Cheers
Just to be very clear, it’s not related to the bands of the modem chip.
