Can you use a 4g sim card in a 3g sartwatch?

G’day Folks, I am taking a bold step and venturing into the world of smartwatches. I have been collecting watches for about 10 years now. Started with Pocket watches, then wristwatches,…so the next logical step is Smart watches. Being a complete newbie I wanted to ask…Can I use a 4g sim cars in a 3g smart watch? I think I can because the area I live in  (In Australia) is supposedly a 4g netwrok but my mobile phone only has 3g technology. AnywaY I would appreciate any help that anyone can give…and yes I know I can purchase a 4g smartwatch, but for a variety of reasons this is something I don’t want to do at this stage. Also does anyone have  any suggestions for a fitting 3 or 4g smartwatch that can be used as a phone, for a beginner? Again thanks in advance for any help or tips, much appreciated!

I am the US but use Speed Talk Sim cards in my watches that run on the T-Mobile network that are 4G capable but run fine in my older Android 5.1 3G watches. There are many Android 5.1/3G watches to choose from. I would so a bit of research before making a purchase. The Smartwatch Ticks YouTube channel has excellent reviews on nearly all of theses watches.  Based on my personal experience both the Lemfo LES1 and IQ I4Air would be a good choice. My I4Air is almost 2 years old and still runs good with no issues and I still run the original firmware in both. Automatically updating the firmware is not always advisable unless you are having an issue or are offered a feature you want that the new firmware provides, in my humble opinion.

G’day Capt Jon, Thanks for the advice mate, much appreciated! Yes I have been wondering which particular watch would be best for me to start out with.  I have been watching the…Kospet Hope Lite 4G Smartwatch Phone Android 7.1 1.25GHz 16GB 8MP Cam.  I was considering the Kospet because I believe that they have the antenna inside the watch body and not in the strap. So the straps can be easily replaced and changed for different designs. Apparently replacement “Antenna” straps can be quite expensive?  I have already subscribed to the Smartwatch Ticks and man alive, aren’t there some very different versions of Smart watches out there for an ill informed newbie to wade through and consider!  In Any case thanks again for the advice (I will certainly check out the two models you mentioned Capt!) and I’ll post again when I have my watch…no doubt pleading for help in  how to use it! Cheers, Doonsbury
