Hi All,
Wondering if anyone knows how to access the HR sensor on the KW88 – doesn’t seem like it is published to the android system like the pedometer (i.e. not detected by Google Fit, Cardiograph, etc.). Perhaps there is a way to make this sensor discoverable by third party apps? I don’t mind doing some development if anyone has some background info…
Might be as simple as creating/modifying a FitnessSensorService (developers.google.com/fit/android/new-sensors) – not sure how the pedometer service was implemented, but I imagine it would be something similar. I imagine this would be able to run in the background like any other service…
Anyways, let me know if anyone has any info – would like to actually be able to make use of the sensor data.
Thanks!

if the HR sensor on the watch works continuously even for an hour it will have a great impact on battery life i do'nt think it will last more than an hour i had this kind of watch and did'nt last the whole workout. i did'nt buy the watch for it's HR sensor but that it is a full android watch and that it can work with apps which uses BT HR chest belt.
Not necessarily planning on having it run continuously… But perhaps periodically… What I’m most interested in is logging the data into 3rd party apps like Google fit.
Looking for some info on how to access the sensor data.
Thanks!
Per this discussion /thread/745/continuous-heart-monitoring-activity-monitor there was an app that worked on some other watches but not the KW88 I believe that developer posted here forum.xda-developers.com/smartwatch/other-smartwatches/heart-rate-custom-app-t3479635#post71441940 I did not get a response to my post about modifying the app for the KW88 on XDA.
The KW88 sensor library has got to be out there somewhere…
It would be very interesting to find out what a periodic HR reading (every minute or so) would ‘cost’ in terms of battery life.
For comparison - my Garmin Fenix 3HR watch does 24/7 heart rate monitoring and the battery lasts 1 week.
