What a nice comprehensive review. Thanks for the many app tips, which I am going to try out. With all that usage, how many hours of battery duration do you typically get from one charge ? (Not adding from the dock or topping up)
Today with SIM connected in 2G mode, my keyboard started to enter numbers itself and also when I pressed one button, an other button 4-5 buttons to the right was pressed simultaneously. Looks like the watch has trouble with the RF from the radio under certain circumstancesā¦
So - is everyone having issues with raise to wake stopping working after several hours
Also need to know if step counter stops when raise to wake stops⦠If it stops that isā¦
Sounds like a conflicting app to be honest @Dotsfar.
I have had this device for a while now and have never seen this problem
I have, some posts back, also described that I have problems with the raise to wake. I described it as feeling that the watch goes into deep sleep, but what I observe is that raise to wake seems impossible to wake no matter how much I try, for periods, but then later it works again. Good point to check if the step counter also pauses, I didnāt check that. Also difficult to check, because how would you know the step count juuuuust before the unresponsiveness starts, since we donāt know when it beginsā¦
I havenāt observed it before either. Switched the SIM of and problem goneā¦
I was trying to enter a WiFi code when it happened, so I was in a system app.
About raise to wake:
Does it only happen with stock built in faces applied?
Or only when a custom watch face is applied?
We are aware of a storage security issueā¦
So, if a custom watch face is being used when āraise to wakeā stops working, would help to diagnose the problem.
Any feedback is appreciated because they are holding back on an OTA until these bugs are resolved.
Cheers
I am using one of the great JN watchfaces. I think I only used the factory one one or two days. I see, ok then I will try a factory one for a while. I like the default one
@Dotsfar Thanks, I am very much expecting the issue to be most obvious when using a custom watch face in the clockskin folder on the watch storage
But if it is a permission issue, why does the watchface turn on as soon as you press the button ? This is my observation, it is only detection of wrist movement which doesnāt activate the watchface, but as soon as I press the button, it is there immediately.
Only a few hours in, but I have a feeling of a more alive watchface. Just i initial impression, I think we need to give it a whole 24h to be certain.
I had the same problem when I key in the Sim code. Suddenly the watch makes very inputs without my finger. Then it was very slowly, it was difficult to make a shutdown. At this point I havenāt done a factory reset, but now I have done this to check the issue again. Since 2 days everything is running OK.
@pablo11 I have not installed any of my own watchfaces yet, (waiting for the ota) and have no problems with lift to wake.
Hopefully the factory reset will be the end of this
I did the factory reset before I took it in use, as you recommend, and I used the watch since I got it without seeing the random keypress problem, until suddenly today. But then I didnāt use the SIM that much, because it eats around 10% battery pr hour in my area.
The reason why we think it is related to the storage (clockskin watch faces) is related to the Android Permission Manager.
Android 11 was a step up in security and has to be dealt with slightly differently when it comes to storage access.
It is related to any third party app accessing internal storage.
With the raise to wake issue I believe a sleep / read error is happening for watch faces needing to be accessed instantly for raise to wake functionality.
The way to prove it is by bugreport from the developer mode.
But no one who has experienced the problem has sent a bug report, so we have to wait for the solution provider to run hundreds of tests and confirm the issue.
So unless we can get sensible bugreports for the various issues that are reported - we just have to wait.
Thatās the bottom line people.
Cheers
I have found that the promotion they refer to is the Aliexpress promotion which is aimed at some regionsā¦but not all.
But I believe that the original discount code will still get you a better price than if you did not use it
I am traveling, today 1100km by car, so limited possibilities. But I can confirm I havenāt yet seen the raise to wake problem with the standard watchface, but there have been several times where it seemed very hard to wake it.
Writes āYou have already applied this codeā but I have not yet purchased using this code or this watch
EDIT - confirmed
The code is still working fine.
If you have entered the code several times using your login details to Aliexpress, but then exited without paying - itās probably not going to be accepted.
I donāt know much about Aliexpress to be honest so I would advise you to send them a message.
I donāt know of anyone else who had a problem.
