Hello members:
I just received my Kospet Hope and am wondering if you can assist.
I am visually impaired and, therefore, rely on TalkBack in the Android accessibility settings to make my watch speak to me. I have been looking in the settings for the Accessibility settings in order to turn on the TalkBack app, however, I am unable to find it. I have downloaded TalkBack, but am unable to get it to work. I would be very grateful if you can assist me in locating the Accessibility settings. Without this, unfortunately, I would be unable to utilize this watch since I would not be able to manipulate the touch screen without voice feedback from the watch.
Thank you.
Regards in desperate straits,
Rajiv
So, you have this app installed:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.marvin.talkback
?
This is the instructions on how to get talkback to work supposedly:
To turn on TalkBack, Switch Access, or Select to Speak:
- Open your device’s Settings app.
- Select Accessibility.
- Select TalkBack, Switch Access, or Select to Speak.
Yes. I can confirm that I did download TalkBack from the PlayStore. How do I get to Accessibility settings from within the UI? I don’t see accessibility anywhere on the Kospet Hope settings menu, or, rather, the person assisting me does not see it. Is there a search interface to search for settings not within the UI?
Thank you.
Regards,
Rajiv
Hello,
firstly, thank you so kindly for replying.
Secondly, the accessibility menu should appear in the Settings area. It does on every Android device I have used except this watch. It is not on the Kospet Hope. My question to you is this:
How do I access an element which is not present within the UI? To be sure, compare the menu entries on your Android phone vs. your Android watch. You will most certainly see that an accessibility entry exists in the settings area of your phone but not your watch. Once you have ascertained this, please try to explain how I get to the accessibility UI on the Kospet?
Having this info would be invaluable to me, and i do really appreciate your help and patience.
Regards,
Rajiv
This Hi. I see that there no responses to this thread. If you don’t know the solution to my issue, then there is absolutely nothing wrong with saying, you don’t know. I considered you to be evangelists for full Android watches, and frankly I am quite disheartened that you can’t help get the accessibility settings I need. I was contemplating a donation, but now I am considering a rethink. Still hoping you can assist.
I installed “Android Accessibility Suite” and the “Accessibility Testing” app. The test app reports talkback is installed but it is OFF and “Simple accessibility check” is false and “Explore by Touch” is false.
I also installed “Hidden Android Settings” app in the hope that Talkback can be enabled, but that doesn’t work. Will continue to look for a solution…
I installed QuickShortcutMaker and can now select all Talkback settings and also enter the “missing” Accessibility settings menu. Here are the steps to change the Talkback settings:
- open QuickShortcutMaker
- in the Activities list (opened by default) scroll to “Android Accessibility Suite” and tap it to expand underlying items
- tap for example on the first Talkback settings item and in next screen tap on “Try”
- the Talkback settings screen opens and you can change any of them
- when you are done press the back button twice to return to QuickShortcutMaker activity list and repeat steps 2-4 for any of the other Talkback and Accessibility setting screens
And here are the steps to enter the “missing” Accessibility settings menu:
-
open QuickShortcutMaker
-
in the Activities list (opened by default) scroll down to Settings and tap on it
-
Scroll down to “Settings Accessibility” and tap on it
-
In the next screen tap on “Try”
-
The Accessibility settings menu appears and you can enable/disable Talkback
I have no experience with Talkback and hope this helps you to get it to work.
I just tested it and Talkback works flawlessly
Hi and thank you for taking the time. This fixed the issue, and TalkBack is working now. I am able to use the Watch.
One question: why is ShortcutMaker 2 preferred over Shortcut Maker?
Thank you again. I

To be honest your response to soontobemember is quite a bit unfair. You're lucky I only see it now, because if I would, I couldn't be bothered helping you.
Hi. I wholeheartedly apologise. My response to soontobemember was not appropriate and it was born of frustration. I must admit that I panicked when the possibility of having a device I could not use appeared very real. I should have expressed my appreciation and apology to soontobemember in my last post where I was thankful for the assistance. I promise to be more measured and courteous to you, soontobemember , and other members going forward. I am truly sorry. Rajiv
