Here is a little different kind of clock “face”.
For the purpose of clarity, the numerical time and day of the month is written on the windows of the house, but otherwise, the time can be read like so:
-
SECONDS: it takes the car one minute to drive by the house. For additional clarity the lines on the road mark 15 second intervals. Each 15 second group of lines is made of 3 shorter groups of lines marking 5 second intervals and then each of those is composed with 5 short lines representing one second marks. You can tell how many seconds into the next minute the current moment is by the position of the front (lights) of car. In adddition to that, the chimney of the house lets out one smoke cloud every second and the canopy of the tree sways in the wind in second intervals. The exact second value of current time is also written on the third left top window of the house.
-
MINUTES: it takes the balloon one hour to fly across the sky between the house and the hills in the back. For additional clarity it’s path is marked by the 15, 5 and 1 minute intervals with dots and dashes similar to the second marks on the road. You can tell how many minutes into the next hour the current moment is by the position of the balloon in the sky. The exact minute value of current time is also written on the second left top window of the house.
-
HOURS: the sky is marked with hour numbers going from 7 AM to 7 PM. It takes the Sun 12 hours to travel across the sky when the sky is light blue during the day, and so does the Milky Way when the sky is black during the night. Since the exact time of sunrise and sunset is changing throughout the year, this is (obviously) very approximate. I am trying to figure out how to represent this better, but for now, this is where we’re at. The exact hour of current time is also written on the first left top window of the house.
-
DAY OF THE WEEK: the tractor is plowing the fields on the left of the house behind the tree one field per day, starting with the left-most on Sunday, behind the tree on Wednesday and the one closest to the house on Saturday.
-
DAY OF THE MONTH: this one is simply written on the bottom window of the house. It is yet another bit of information that I am still thinking about how to represent differently.
-
MONTH OF THE YEAR: across the road from the house there are 14 garden beds, 12 of which are wholly visible. Yellow flowers bloom on a different bed every month, from January on the left to December on the right. At some point I would like to somehow also encode seasons, but this is where we’re at for now.
-
MOON PHASE: since the Moon in real life is sometimes also visible during the day, so is the one representing it’s phase on this clock face.
-
BATTERY LEVEL: there is a cat walking from the right edge of the screen by the house across the yard and then across the road. When the cat reaches the lane of the road where the car drives, it will get run over by the car and die, just like your watch due to the empty battery. You should keep the cat away from the road and make sure it doesn’t go too far by keeping your battery level above 25%. The cat steps on the road when the battery is at 50% and it starts getting on the car lane at 25%. The car will probably never hit the cat because your watch will die sooner. When charging, the house looks like it is connected to the grid around where the cat starts it’s walk when the battery is full (on the right edge).
That’s about it for now, I might “encode” some more information into the scene sometime in the future.
