THE WATCH’S STORY and the ORIGINAL*
So excited to get this back from my master watchmaker as I wasn’t sure it would ever run again. But after many decades of sitting in a drawer, my great grandfather’s 1940s era timepiece is clicking away like a top. Like my great grandfather, the watch’s history is a bit of a mystery. My great grandfather was born in Egypt, but immigrated to the US and eventually coached the US Olympic fencing team, a career that took him all over the world where he picked up coins, stamps, and other oddities he loved to collect. The watch houses has a manual wind Swiss movement within its 35mm 18k rose gold case, but it has apparently been serviced and even modified several times over the years (the seconds subdial was added later on, and even the seconds hand is from an Elgin watch; someone painted the tip red to match the date hand).
