Did you succeed in the end? I need a watch for my kid and the VP29 looks good. But I also need it for Home Assistant companion so my kid can be tracked and unlock doors etc. The order page also says that it comes with Android 10.
Itâs Android 8, for sure.
Says Android 10 in description. They even have a photo of the About page saying Android version: 10.0. Item 1005009052069338 on AliExpress. Itâs still bogus? Is it a decent watch for a 9 year old? I intend to put restrict apps with Google Family Link if possible.
There are a lot of those watches, they all come with Android 8. Some of them seems to be Android 10, but in fact they arenât. Android 8. 100%.
Thank you. Are they OK for a 9 year old you think? Other recommendations?
Sorry, but I donât want to comment on this. Personally, I think the question should be whether a 9-year-old child even needs a smartwatch. But that discussion wouldnât lead to any results.
Thanks anyway. The purpose in this case is to be able to call/text with her/him when walking alone to school. Itâs really useful to know where to pick her/him up after school as well. Then the GPS part of a smartwatch is more of a safety measure. But the reason Iâm considering the VP29 instead of a dumber watch is that I would really like to integrate it into my smart home. And when the watch runs full Android, the child would be able to hit a button to open the door to our house. He/she canât do that with the current watch (some watch called K26 that doesnât seem to use Android at all). I plan on deactivating all the âfunâ apps on the VP29 so it will be pretty much just as dumb as the K26.
